Give a rest on the Hart love. He hasn’t been that great tonight. Yet Millen won’t shut up about him like he is about to get a 50 save shut out. He is a good young goalie prospect playing an average nylander game tonight

Marner's ability to control the puck and quickly find the right pass is unparalleled on this team (next closest is JT, in how quickly he can make the right pass). Nylander has a better shot, but it is not like he's dramatically outshooting Marner this year either by goal rate or shooting percentage. The gap isn't even big throughout there careers. I agree, Nylander has the better shot and shot arsenal. Marner probably shoots from better locations and spots. I mean, they have played 233 (Nylander) and 235 games (Marner) respectively. Marner has more goals and a higher shooting percentage.

Completely inarguable.

Don't forget though, Mitch is playing with a guy flirting with 50 goals (very much due to Marner) while Nylander's season can best be described as a decent month for most top end players (hell, Laine had almost as many goals in one month this year as Nylander has had points this season).

My argument though, is evident on the 1st power play unit.
Marner has been given a universal green light to shoot. His passes have been the sole concern of the penalty killers. Swap Nylander in there (I never would) and the penalty kill wouldn't so readily give him the open shot there.

I've always believed that Matthews has the chance to be a top 2 or 3 player in the NHL during his tenure.
I've also always believed that while Nylander might have as many or more points as Marner, Mitch is a fairly substantially better player and therefore more valuable.
