The other problem is Rielly isn't a #1 defenseman, he's just utilized like one

On a great winning team, Rielly is probably a 2, but lives more comfortably in a 3 spot. He has no clue how to defend a rush, a cycle and everything is just a constant fire drill because he has no sense of positioning. His offensive game is hot and cold. And he's a terrible PP distributor. His best attribute is probably rushing the puck come playoff time lone ranger styles, or being the trailing man on a bang bang play.
