Yet Tavares always gets the reputational benefit of the doubt. Consummate professional, details, lead by example.

You sure? Seems like a bottom six guy with poor defensive acumen, can’t skate or complete a simple play without turning into a slog in the mud.
I can’t think of one zone he’s effective in. Literally can’t keep up defensively. Can’t carry the puck in the neutral zone. Can’t do anything in the offensive zone other then bang one in tight once in a while.

All for the cheap price of 11 mill!

The puck was technically on the Liljegren’s stick long enough that it was considered possession, which voids the kicking motion. I can’t blame Lily on that one, your immediate reaction would be to stop the puck from crossing the line. Fast game, sh*t happens.
If it was a delayed penalty I don't think they blow the whistle and say he had control. Definitely sketchy.

I have no idea how the rule works on that kicked puck play but I'm assuming if the puck was kicked off someone's skate blade it wouldn't count so there's no reason for it to count if it just glanced off Lilly's stick blade. The only thing I can think of is the puck may not have gone in if he didn't deflect it. And that may be true if you look at the overhead view but I wouldn't call it definitive. I'd love to hear an explanation.

In slow motion it looked like he made an aware attempt to handle the kicked puck. For me thats instinctual and does not mean he was aware the kick. It becomes a grey area where if we are mtl its no goal. Since we are Leafs, good goal.

For me. Kick + deflect = no goal
Kick + deflect + shot in = good goal
