Just another team that beats us is the way I look at it.

Hey there, I tried asking this question in the MTL-BOS thread but the mdos thought I was trolling.

I'm just curious how you guys feel toward Boston? There's been a several significant trades between ya and then that playoff series last year... what's that like?

I ask because I see a lot of Leafs fans cheering against the Habs - is it just you hate Boston less than the Habs or is it that you don't hate Boston at all?

Cheers!

As a diehard Leaf fans I was born to cheer against arch rival Montreal since birth and do so at every opportunity I can.

Leafs are like the Bruins farm team as we're a great feeder system for their success and Leaf fans can live vicariously through them knowing we are playing a part in playoff success.

I'd prefer of course to be cheering on the Leafs success, but I don't blame Bruin GMs for taking advantage of my Leafs through trade as I blame only my own GMs for foolish trades at have only hurt us.

I could easily live with a Bruins Stanley Cup but a Habs one would be tough to stomach.

Go Hawks Go. ;)

I hate the Bruins because I want the Leafs to be the exact same team. They can play any style, you'll never beat them physically, great goaltending, great D,two-way forwards across the board, intimidation factor...such a complete team.

Boston is my favourite US city. But I still want them to lose, just not to the Habs.

I want Boston to beat the Habs, then I want Boston to beat the Pens or Rags because I don't like those teams at all, and then I would like the Hawks (or other WC team) to demolish the Bruins in the final yet again.

I got it all planned out! LOL.

Don't hate the Bruins though, just envious of them and wouldn't mind seeing them suffer a back to back SCF loss to lessen that Stanley Cup champ feeling that's probably still lingering for that team/fans.

I love the bruins squad and hate the habs organization so it's pretty easy for me to cheer for Boston. Lucic is easily one of my favorite players in the league and the only players I don't like on that team are Chara and Marchand. I love big tough physical teams. The Anaheim team that won the cup is another of my favs

I don't mind Boston. I like the way they play for the most part and I'm a fan of Lucic, Bergeron and Rask. I will always be thankful that they beat the Canucks in the final. Not sure how i'd feel if they won the cup this year (depends who they are facing), but it would be awesome to see Iginla win.

Hate every last one of them, but have a Lucic jersey in my closest.

I don't overly dislike Boston. Really I have more issues with how the Leafs are run. No point worrying about other teams until the Leafs can stand on their own and compete.

Of course feel they get away with way too much. Also wonder about the crowd at times. Can still remember when they went all "USA USA" in a game against them even though the Leafs probably have more American players than they do .

Not at the top of my dislike list though. They are a good team.

I have a T-shirt that says it all.

"I cheer for two teams.

The Toronto Maple Leafs

and anyone who is playing

the Montreal Canadiens. "

^ pretty much this

but i also really like the Bruins style of play

Rivalries change. For whatever reason, I've loved seeing a once underdog Canadiens team take it to Boston. A lot of what was once a Leafs' identity seems to have been adopted by Montreal.

I actually used to like Boston...Right up until we traded Rask. After the Kessel trade there seemed to be this Toronto self-hatred which really bothered me. The Stockholm Syndrome like admiration for Boston seems weird. How the Bruins aren't considered our mortal enemies over and above Montreal is confounding.

That said, if either make it to the Final, I'll take Chicago over either of them.

I hate Boston. Always didn't like them and it became worse for obvious reasons the last years.

(Not living in Toronto and always being a fan of Canada at the World Championships since my childhood behind the Iron Curtain, I have nothing against the Habs. Okay, I had nothing against them before I entered hfboards.)

Obviously dislike both but I can't root for the dirty play of the Bruins or their fan base. More respect for the Habs.

The bolded is where I'm coming from. Leafs fans seem to idolize the Bruins - which is totally fine - but I was looking for more insight into it because it doesn't make sense to me. I guess it's partly supporting former Leafs prospects (and picks) performing there and partly the similar intended play-styles and the shared hatred of Montreal.

Myself and my fellow Habs fans kinda want the Leafs to do well because it's healthy for Canadian hockey and our rivalry - we detest the Bruins because of all the stuff that's happened over the years, especially their cup victory.

I hate the Habs, but I also like the Bruins a lot and see them as a model team for what I'd like the Leafs to be. Patrice Bergeron is probably my favourite NHL player as well, so it's easy to cheer for them as somewhat of a 'second team'.

Habs? If they played against Satan and his demons I would gladly wave a pitchfork in support of the boys from down under.

And I respect Bostons model of building a team and how they "kill their darlings" to better them self as a team.
Chara and Iginla is also long time favorites and especially Iginla deserves the cup.

But I hope Rangers go to the final. :) Would like to see Lundqvist as a champion.

I hate the habs and I'm wishing they win this series. That should tell you how much I hate the Bruins.

Wow..surprised by the number of folk who would rather hate the habs then Bruins..for me I guess its more certain players that make me hate a team...can't stand Marchand, Chara, Thornton & Lucic.....love PK and Price....so easy choice for me...mind you..the rivalry runs deep with the Habs..so I'd want them to beat the Bruins..but proceed to fail miserably in the next round..

I feel like a woman that was used and kicked to the curb .

That being said , I went into these playoffs hoping one of Thornton or Iggy would get a ring . Big Joe's gone so i'm left with rooting for Iggy .

Well this can still happen if Boston wins the cup ;)

I am actually going for Montreal because I love PK and Carey Price. Plus, I'd love to see MTL vs NYR, that would be a fun series.

I'm not Canadian, so I don't have that natural hate for the Canadiens. I hate the Red Wings instead. Boston is one of those teams I don't really like. They're good but not really exciting. I'm rooting for the Blackhawks. But I like Montreal over Boston. Plus, I'm still a little miffed about Rask, even if he is a huge dork. Bernier is cooler though.

**** the Habs

Boston has always been my second team. Borque and Cam Neely are 2 of my all time favs. No matter what they did to us last year I'd prefer a schooling from Boston over the Habs any day of the week.

I respect the bruins
