Hey there, I tried asking this question in the MTL-BOS thread but the mdos thought I was trolling.

I'm just curious how you guys feel toward Boston? There's been a several significant trades between ya and then that playoff series last year... what's that like?

I ask because I see a lot of Leafs fans cheering against the Habs - is it just you hate Boston less than the Habs or is it that you don't hate Boston at all?

Cheers!

wish they could both be eliminated in the same series. watching them win the Cup would be devastating. hate both teams with a passion.

wish our team was more like the B's though.

I don't hate Boston at all. They have a couple of 'dirty' players but as a team, they're intimidating, strong, good in all zones; Something I wish our Leafs could replicate.

Rooting for Boston because:

A) Hate Montreal way more.
B) I love Iginla and want to see him win a cup before he retires. Sucks that he had to sign with Boston but whatever.

I think I just envy Boston more than I hate them and frustrated that they dominated us for so long. While Montreal is having succes I still wouldn't swap rosters. Not saying the Leafs are better but Montreal just isn't the type of team I like.

I feel like a woman that was used and kicked to the curb .

That being said , I went into these playoffs hoping one of Thornton or Iggy would get a ring . Big Joe's gone so i'm left with rooting for Iggy .

It's tough to genuinely root for either team for me obviously. However, I think a lot of us would like to see Iginla win a cup which is why I've been pulling for the B's a little more.

Wait...which team represents the man (or other woman) who used you?

As for the OP. I hate the Bruins. Not even so much for the team, but moreso the city of Boston in general. It genuinely confuses me that some Leaf fans have chosen to cheer for them in these playoffs.

I don't hate the Bruins at all. It's not their fault they've fleeced us in a trade or two :sarcasm:

That and I'm utterly opposed to the notion you should root for a team just because they happened to be based in Canada

As much as I hate the Bruins, I think whichever team wins the series gets a walk to the finals, and I just don't want to deal with Habs fans if they make the finals.

Boston is my #3 on my most hated list... Play dirty, gets away with most of it, and most of the players make me angry... (#2 is Habs.... #1 is Detroit) so i will NEVER cheer for Boston to win anything... however i am cheering for the Habs to lose their series and go down in a giant fireball....

The Montreal rivalry's been dead for most of my time as a fan. Boston is far and away my least favourite team in the league given our history (read: ass-kicking from) them over the past 6 years or so.

I don't hate Boston as a city or team. I hate them as much as I hate Buffalo: Just dislike. I just hate the players. Especially Chara, Marchand, Thornton, and Luchicken.

The Bruins are exactly what I want the Leafs to be. While there's the obvious rivalry...I'm insanely jealous of what they have.

The main reason why there really isn't a rivalry or intense level of hatred between the Leafs and Bruins is because the Bruins have absolutely, 100%, completely owned us in every facet of the game, from trading (Rask/Kessel deals), to coaching, to playing... not just in that game 7, but since Burke took over.. ever since Lucic was drafted by the B's they have dominated us left right and centre.. its been a one-way thrashing of epic proportions and we cannot hate a team like that because they will just do it again.

However, in saying this, I was one of the first people in maple leafs square each night of that first round, and was involved in 2 altercations with B's fans.. if it weren't for the police/security after a few of the games, there would have been some pretty bad muggings of those idiot Hipster Bruins fans wearing their jerseys and flaunting them after a Leafs loss (Not game 7 though, everyone was just too shocked to even move, have never seen anything like it). Anyways, I hated the Bruins more than I've hated anything else in the world during that 7 game series, but now, it's back to the master slave relationship.

There was 2010-11 where we beat them in the season series and this year lost by one point, as well as a 7 game series where the expectation was 5 games or less... not exactly the thrashing you are clamouring about.

Other than Toronto and Philly, I hate all other teams tbh. As soon as those two fall out of the playoff run I just wish they'd cancel the season, so no one wins.

I don't hate the Bruins team so much as I hate most of their fans. I'm sure some of you (like yourself) are pretty cool, but Boston by and large is such a lowlife sports city full of mouth breathing, **** disturbing, pseudo tough guy a-holes where I fine it incredibly difficult to cheer for a team that is as talented and rugged as the Bruins are.

Eg: Dumb fat idiot fan in front row who takes Kovalev's stick from him, Cowardly fan who sucker punches Leaf fan and runs away in last years playoff series, Bruins fan who made a joke about Phil Kessel's testicular cancer on Twitter last year.

I can go on and on, but I think I'll stop here.

And yes, I know we have our fair share of dumb ***** within our fanbase as well, but B's fans (for the most part) are on a whole different level of crass and obnoxious imo.

Having said all of that, in a pick your poison scenario, I hope you guys eliminate the Habs just because we'll never hear the end of it up here if they win.

I consider the Bruins a good team and even an excellent team to measure up against. I certainly don't hate them. That said there are several players on the Bruins I can't stand but that goes for most teams I consider rivals.

I must have blocked that season out of my memory because we haven't had a winning decade against Boston since the 60's.

Since 2010 they have won 65% of games, and, for a period of nearly 2 years we had not been able to beat them... I understand the playoff round was different, but that comeback made it look like they just decided to start taking us seriously.

I'm envious of their success and I like the physical, defensive style they play, but I hate that team. Mostly because of Marchand and Lucic. And Chara.

It's bad enough that I'm rooting for Montreal over them. Which is kind of icky when you think about it.

Respect the Bruins. Thought the series last season was fantastic. Wasnt dirty, was full of ups and downs for both teams. Just good hard hockey.

I no longer "fear" playing the Bruins like 3-4 years ago. Leafs have shown they can play with them now.

Im completely over the Kessel trade. He has blossomed into a super star player for us. The Rask trade hurts, but now that we Bernier the sting is lessened.

I like the Bruins, no real bad blood there.

Habs are rivals, pretty much have to hate them although Subban kills me with his swagger

If Boston were in the West and we didn't play them all year, ever year, they'd be one of my favorite teams.
