GAME DAY: Maple Leafs at Devils
MAPLE LEAFS (21-10-2) AT DEVILS (11-13-7)
7 p.m. Tuesday
Prudential Center
TV: TSN, RADIO: Sportsnet 590 The Fan
THE BIG MATCHUP
G Frederik Andersen vs. G Kevin Kinkaid
Despite a 6-1 blowout in their only meeting to date, the last two games involving these teams in ’17-18 were one-goal results and the Devils losing Saturday’s shootout to the Preds, 2-1, points to another. Kinkaid stopped 28 shots from Nashville and has better numbers than the struggling and now-injured Cory Schneider, while Andersen will be seeking better support in his end and on offence than he’s received in most of this road trip.

KEY PLAYERS
Kyle Palmieri and Auston Matthews
Palmieri has worn the “A” with Taylor Hall out of the lineup the last two games with a lower body injury. Palmieri had a four-game point streak broken in an overtime loss to Nashville over the weekend. But he did have five goals and an assist over that span, and leads the team with 17 goals. Matthews has been somewhat quiet, with no goals over his last three games.
NEED TO KNOW
Devils goalie Keith Kincaid has been in goal most of the past two games. The snake-bitten Cory Schneider started against Las Vegas two games ago, but was pulled midway through the first period after allowing four goals on seven shots. Scheneider is one of the bigger mysteries around the league; he has not won a game since Dec. 27 of last year and is 0-15-3 over that span. Part of the problem has been his teammates’ play in front of him — they scored three own-goals in Schenieder’s second-last start. But the veteran goalie needs to snap out of this funk for the Devils to have success. New Jersey’s current .887 save percentage is third-worst in the league …Hall remains questionable with a lower body injury.
UP NEXT Thursday, vs. Florida Panthers, 7 p.m.
