I can see Leafs carrying 8 D on the opening night line up. Especially if Rielly plays a 5 game sample.

Liles can give us a good return. Franson can give a decent return too. But we need to get rid of Komisarek somehow.
We'll probably carry 8 defenceman.

I'm impressed with your absolute certainty of the future, but word in camp is Kostka is outplaying Komi and the Leafs are debating what to do. Fraser could easily clear waiver.

Yes, Korbi can be sent down and does not have to clear.

If we are really that high on Kostka and Fraser, the best thing to keep them (because Kostka would get picked off waivers easy) would be to send Rielly back to MJ and send Korbi to the Marlies - 5 games would be nice for Morgan, but I think the consensus amongst the majority is that he needs to go down after those 5 games are up, regardless of how he plays.
 
I think it's stupid that players have to go through waivers during training camp. Teams should be able to keep the players they send down before the season starts.

Well, for opening night, we're starting to see the roster we're gonna have. I think it'll be:

Lupul-Kadri-Kessel
JVR-Grabovski-Kulemin
MacArthur-Bozak-Frattin
Komarov-Steckel-McClement

Phaneuf-Gunnarsson
Liles-Franson
Gardiner/Rielly-Komisarek/Holzer

Reimer
Scrivens

However, Nonis seems to have embraced the idea of playing the kids and shipping out our older players. With Percy, Blacker, Finn, and Yeo, not to mention Kostka and Fraser, do we see any trades with Gunnarsson, Liles, Komi, or Holzer coming up? All 4 have been involved in diff. trade scenarios. Perhaps by the trade deadline or draft day? Or does Nonis keep them and address all this in the offseason?

there is a purpose for it... it gives guys a chance at NHL level somewhere else... which for them means a huge pay raise
 
Either way Rielly is gone imo.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Leafs keep 7 defensemen on the bench against the Habs. Rielly seems likely to get his 5 games and will probably see PP time.
