Proposal: Leafs-Coyotes

The problem with this is that such a trade completely deviates from the Leafs current rebuild strategy.

Such a move commits them to doing everything they can to "win now", which is just a repeat of their old failed shortcuts to success.

Honestly, it would help the development of the young core that Toronto has.

the ask would be matthews/marner + 1st, which is insane.
how terrible would it be if the 1st ended up being liljegren, who could easily be as good or better than OEL. teams in a rebuild don't trade stud rookies. if chicago moved Kane/Toews, they probably don't win 3 cups.

stay the course. draft liljegren/hague/foote. keep our big 3

Laughable. Leafs won't be trading for a 1D without one of the big 3 on the table....and even then, it would be tough.

OEL is great but the Leafs are not in win-now mode.

Only way he might come to the Leafs any time soon is as a free agent in two years. Speaking of which, Burns, Alzner and Shattenkirk are UFA this year...
