Lots of strange rumours coming out of Arizona. Guess they're trying to bottom out. I have yet to hear any OEL rumblings but would this entice a last place team to trade their #1 blueliner?

TO TOR: Oliver Ekman-Larsson

TO ARI:
  • Gardiner
  • Dermott
  • Kapanen
  • Leafs 2017 1st (no lottery protection)
  • SJ 2nd 2017 (or "last" of Leafs' 3 2nds)

You're trying to get a franchise defenseman but you're not offering any of your elite young forwards? What? The Coyotes laugh at your spare parts offer.

They won't move OEL. But if they did, Nylander or Marner is definitely one of the pieces going the other way

So Bad.:laugh:Another quantity for quality offer and the quantity isn't much to start with.

Think more in line of Matthews for him or
Marner +

What an embarrassing offer. B prospects, a 2nd pairing defenseman and picks for one of the best young defenseman in the league. Marner or Nylander would have to be included and you'd be adding a lot on top of them as well.

They wouldn't move OEL for Matthews so they move him for this :shakehead

This is an embarrassingly transparent offer. If you aren't willing to give up something that really hurts, you aren't getting OEL.

You clearly don't want to move something you value highly, and you're trying to hide it with quantity.

not gonna happen. teams in a rebuild don't give up on their stud rookies, and then add a lot on top

i think it was the other way around. leafs wanted oel and 7thfor matthews. leafs wouldnt move matthews for anyone not named mcdavid

Both sides didn't want to do it because Coyotes didn't want to cripple their blueline and Maple Leafs didn't want to give up a potential franchise center. Coyotes wouldn't of done a 1 for 1

I would this. OEL has 2 more years after this season before he hits UFA. He's only 25 now. If he can re-sign at 8 years afterwards then the Leafs will have a good 7-8 seasons of elite 1D..assuming he declines after age 33.

Finally, a proposal involving a defenseman who's actually worth one of the big 3...Matthews or Marner 1 for 1 or Nylander and a small plus - I still don't do it, but that's OEL's value.

neither would the leafs. insert any player in a 1 for 1 at this point of the rebuild thats last name isnt mcdavid and they say no

Then there's zero motivation for the Coyotes to make a deal. If OEL was on the market there'd be teams lining up to land him and you'd better believe a massive bidding war would ensue. Given where the Leafs are in their rebuild I would tend to agree with you. It's too early to make a massive trade that would include players who look to be core pieces going forward.

I'd love to have OEL on the leafs. I just dont see moving a stud rookie as part of the shanaplan. whats the rush? they are to likely to see what these young guys become before making a blockbuster move

Yea right, you won't get a young franchise dman (who plays a 2 way game) that easily.

And obviously OP's offer is a joke.

Well OEL isn't old, is already a top damn league side.

Honestly, it would help the development of the young core that Toronto has.

Arizona would ask for one of Nylander, Marner or Matthews + 1st and Leafs wouldn't do it.

Coyotes move their best player for a bunch of scraps. Makes sense.

And the team already did bottom out. 2nd last two years ago.

Nylander + first is a fair deal for the Leafs considering it's supposedly a weaker draft class. Although the media and fanbase would rip management to shreds for trading a pick :shakehead
