The magic number iwill be one, as in any point gained by the Leafs, or lost by Ottawa.

If we lost the MTL game game OT or SO, or if Ottawa lost in OT or SO in either of their final two games, we get 5th. Ottawa cannot have the Leafs gain a point, and they cannot lose one.

Ottawa would finish the season with 58 points and would jump us if we only get a point against Montreal since they have 2 games in hand

Here it is in a nutshell, I believe:

If Ottawa loses either of their two games, regulation OT or SO, or we get one point Saturday, the worse we will finish is 5th.

Also, Montreal loses tonight in regulation and we beat them Saturday in regulation, we get fourth and take on the Habs in Round 1, provided BOS gets at least a point tonight, or in their last two games.
