Post-Game Talk: Leafs Book Their Tickets for Game 7 [MOD WARNING in OP]

I genuinely believe at this point that our core players start making their offseason bookings/plans starting early May. Ryan O'Reilly somehow willed the team into beating Tampa that year, and then our core players clearly threw the second series as quickly as they could. They had shit booked in like Cabo or something and O'reilly was messing up their plans. And then O'Reilly noped out of this city as quickly as he could and hinted over and over again at massive culture/locker room problems.

Everyone but the Cup winner folds to good teams. In the last 6 years Carolina has only lost once in the First round and made the Final 4 twice. Sounds like a contender to me. They are currently the odds on betting favorite to win the cup, but I guess you know more than the experts that set the betting lines.

They also have 0 wins in the 3rd round if I am not mistaken.

It doesn't sound like they are serious once they hit the 3rd round.

The odds are not predicting who will win.

So are the Leafs

So you are saying that people are wrong, ok, thanks for helping my argument.

They do more than Toronto

No one mentioned Toronto, but sure, they do, but it doesn't make them contenders.

What do you think the people setting the betting lines follow? Please tell us what insights you have that they don't.

They try to make the most money, not predict the winner.

I understand how people love to crap on this team, but the reality is that the odds of a team coming back from 3-0 to win a series are so low that common sense says the leafs will ultimately win. God know they won't be tired after this series because it has all the intensity of watching paint dry.
You thought this series would be a cakewalk, so odds of coming back from a 3-0 deficit doesn’t fit the narrative you spewed, at least be honest with yourself………

A more accurate cartoon……..

I just felt that TOR fell behind a tad early, and that put them off their game.

They were all of a sudden back to their old habits of overpassing at times. Toronto had some chances, but couldn't capitalize.

I don't know why leaf fans feel that a sweep or a series win 5 games was going to automatically make them:

1. Rested
2. Guaranteed to beat FLA
3. Golden
4. Elite
5. No more ghosts

Everything is harder in the playoffs. Ottawa is not a terrible team. It was awesome that they were up 3 games, but they have to learn to get past this adversity too.
If Ottawa isn't a terrible team then what can we truly classify as a "terrible team"?

It was just Keefe he hated. Allegedly he loved all the core guys and said their bound for greatness or some shit.

What would you call Torontos top boys doing in game 1, game 2 and game 3 & game 4. Id argue they won those first 3 games essentially themselfs

They are scoring all the goals in the series, or at the very least are apart of them. If they aren’t in the ice, we aren’t scoring.. Our bottom 6 forwards have been apart of 2 goals in 5 games, or 2 goals out of the 15 goals in the series…

It’s okay to dislike their game last night as they didn’t show up, but please don’t ignore the stats and watch the game.
A blind man could see this coming from a mile away. Shanny does not want to see it for how many years now?

I thought it would end in 5. If it ends in 6, no big difference. It certainly has been a cakewalk in terms of intensity. The Leafs definitely can't complain about being tired after this series. It has been some of the most tedious playoff hockey I've seen in a while.

No you didn't - you were making predictions they were gonna end it in 4 after game 3.

And regarding intensity - you truly must be new to this team. This is standard Leafs playoff intensity at this juncture of the series, been like this since day 1 with this core.

Two things can be true:

1. We've seen games like that from this team before
2. The past does not predict the future and the Leafs are still going to win this series.

Don't let trolls get you guys beyond worked up. Avoid the main boards for the next 24 hours and things will be ok. That is the HockeyVirus guarantee.

I predicted the Leafs in seven before the series began and I still think this is how it will end, I'll even go further and predict that the Leafs will be losing in game seven and come back and win it in overtime.

Nobody went out and grabbed it.
Nobody lit anybody up on their first shift.
Nobody dug in and took punishment in the crease.
Nobody responded to Zub.
Nobody scored.
Nobody even threatened.
Nobody cared.

...and sadly, Nobody was even angry about it out there.

All too familiar.
I saw Knies and OEL pushing back, so no it wasn’t nobody it was most everybody………

They definitely pushed some people, glad they helped win by combining for 0 points and fewer chances than the players who apparently didn't want to win.

This is a wild stat:

"This is a most unfortunate fact: Matthews, Marner and William Nylander, the best of the Leafs offensive players, have never scored a power play goal in Games 5, 6 or 7 in any playoff series they’ve played in."

I'm talking relative to playoff teams.

In most years this shitty Ottawa team isn't even in the playoffs.
97 points is usually pretty good to get in no?

I havn't gone back to check and I can remember 1 year where every Western team had 100 points but I am pretty sure 97 points always is at leastva WC spot.

In my opinion, the difference between 105 point team and a 97 point team is pretty small in a 7 game series.

5 wins over the course of 82 games figuring in injuries, schedule is tough. I am not talking about Tor/Ott here.

Tor was/is clearly the better team and have less than zero excuses to win this series.

I believe 22 games. Super duper elite

Caps 2, Bruins 9, Habs 3, CBJ 1, Tampa 5, Florida 1, Ottawa 1
