Post-Game Talk: Leafs Book Their Tickets for Game 7 [MOD WARNING in OP]

Some lineup changes are coming on Thursday, Patches out and Robertson back in. And I would swap Kampf in for Jarnkrok and run a Lorentz - Kampf - Holmberg 4th line & a Domi - Laughton - Robertson 3rd line.

They played like dogshit last night, and it starts with the big boys but not enough being talked about is the fact in 5 games, we have 1 goal from our bottom 6.. At some point they need to get a goal or two from the bottom lines in a game.
Our depth literally got us 2 wins. That should be enough when you are paying your top players what we are. If the Oilers depth players can give them 2 games a series Leon and Connor will easily win 2 on their own. That is the difference.

This is where you can put a few bucks on Ottawa to ease the pain if we somehow lose the series

Best part of the game was Knies response to Pinto.

Just wipe the whole thing clean but keep him around and start over again.
It’s refreshing that one guy doesn’t smirk and do nothing when challenged, Knies is a guy you could build a team around……..

Not sure I can stomach watching the next game. All the talking heads on the radio and the broadcasts told me this is a different Leafs group, that they're not going to panic, that they're calm, cool, collected, etc. Did not see much of that last night.

What would you call Torontos top boys doing in game 1, game 2 and game 3 & game 4. Id argue they won those first 3 games essentially themselfs

They are scoring all the goals in the series, or at the very least are apart of them. If they aren’t in the ice, we aren’t scoring.. Our bottom 6 forwards have been apart of 2 goals in 5 games, or 2 goals out of the 15 goals in the series…

It’s okay to dislike their game last night as they didn’t show up, but please don’t ignore the stats and watch the game.

So so bad when your top line gets absolutely tilted in a playoff game .. and when Matty is da direct cause of da 1st 2 Sens goals then a message is required Chief .. if your captain doesn't give a rats *ss then time to strip da C now .. and then trade him in da summer .. we don't need da dog sh*t here .. that game requires a HUGE change .. it can only come from you chief .. you know it .. it has to be done .. i know Matty can't handle da pressure and so do you .. hit da post guy last 2 games when it counts .. and he has been da same all his life with injuries and excuses etc .. same old bad story now for 8 years .. let someone else pay his huge CAP hit and get back 4 really good pieces now .. he is never gonna do it here under pressure of TO da center of da hockey world

At minimum this team needs to take out Pacioretty and put in Robertson. Should’ve done it tonight when we had home ice and last change but Craig f***ed up. Robertson is younger, faster, more energetic, and can lay the occasional hit, even if it’s not as heavy at Pacioretty at his best. Yes you’re risking a bad penalty and but Jesus Christ he can’t be any worse than the whole whack of nothing we’re getting from Pacioretty. Plus being scratched for three straight games in favour of a geriatric may have him playing with more sense and caution.
He’s also got a habit of taking stupid penalties…….

People like to be negative. When the Leafs win this series, those same knuckleheads will be hanging out of their car windows driving up Yonge St.
I’m not sure whether I’d rather be bi polar with all the ups and downs that entails or just flat out delusional with unwarranted optimism. It’s a real mystery……….

This is disingenuous because you’re not including the goals scored by defencemen, a few set up by bottom sixers. The majority of the top 6 goals in early games scored on the powerplay, which don’t get me wrong they should do! To say they weren’t team wins the first three is wrong in my opinion. However, I do think the third line has been really poor the past few, but the 4th line has been good. We absolutely need more from our top guys in these elimination games. That’s what they’re paid for.

I mean...Domi wins us game 2 in OT assisted by Benoit....Benoit wins game 3 in OT. Yes Matthews assisted on that one with a faceoff win. But that is the definition of your depth stepping up and scoring big goals to win you games. Putting this on the depth players is just absolutely asinine. You pay Matthews, Marner, Nylander the money you are paying them to push you over the line...and win a matchup against Shane f***ing Pinto.

I understand how people love to crap on this team, but the reality is that the odds of a team coming back from 3-0 to win a series are so low that common sense says the leafs will ultimately win. God know they won't be tired after this series because it has all the intensity of watching paint dry.

I just felt that TOR fell behind a tad early, and that put them off their game.

They were all of a sudden back to their old habits of overpassing at times. Toronto had some chances, but couldn't capitalize.

I don't know why leaf fans feel that a sweep or a series win 5 games was going to automatically make them:

1. Rested
2. Guaranteed to beat FLA
3. Golden
4. Elite
5. No more ghosts

Everything is harder in the playoffs. Ottawa is not a terrible team. It was awesome that they were up 3 games, but they have to learn to get past this adversity too.

This isn't nearly good enough.

Brother, this team continues to buck statistical trends and youre still holding out for them 🤣

They're like 0-30 on the PP in series clinching games. Run the numbers on that, its an insanely unlikely outcome but it is reality. They are what? 1-13 now in series clenching games? Please show me any core from any sport with a worse record than that. If you gave them an even chance to win each of those games (50/50), its like a 0.15% chance of going 1-13. But yeah, keep thinkin this core applies to the laws of statistics
