Post-Game Talk: Leafs Book Their Tickets for Game 7 [MOD WARNING in OP]

The fact that the Leafs went to 3 straight overtimes against them should have been a huge red flag. I'm not sure why anyone felt good about things up this point. Sure they won, but how they won instilled zero confidence. That being said, I still think they win the series. But if they don't the entire thing needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt.

I am well aware of all these things lol.

He always says he loves watching the Leafs too. Heck, in the Amazon series, every time they were at his house and he was watching hockey, it was the Leafs. Edmonton fans were pretty upset at that lol

Was in the building tonight.

Was actually comical watching them not only come out so flat, but to see 34 & 16 get shut down by those elite shutdown players Shane Pinto, Ridley Greig, and Mikey Amadio.

Look: if you still think these guys can win with Matthews & Marner so central to their plans:

1-13 isnt a coincidence. The eyes dont lie. They are what they are.
it's not a coincidence at all.

I've been saying all along that there's more to it. It's not about a streak of bad luck. There's something else going on. And has been for years. 1-13 proves it. Certain players need to be cut loose in order to move on from this. They've been yanking our chains for years now

Game 6 on the road I'd go:

Lorentz - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Laughton - Tavares - Nylander
Knies - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Holmberg - McMann

McCabe - Tanev
Rielly - Carlo
Benoit - OEL

Woll

I knew it was too good to be true, this core being up 3-0?

They hadn't failed and got reverse swept yet part of their epic failures. Guess it was time for them to do it again too.

This. Team. Just. Stinks.

L O S E R S
is said in 6 so it's all over in Ottawa next game they aren't going to win them all

what bandwagon? a bandwgon for a team that won 1 series in like 20 years?

Is this a joke.

As I explained prior to the playoffs, it would be virtually impossible for the Leafs to go 16-0in the postseason. And i implored everyone not to overreact at the first sign of adversity.

The Leafs bandwagon will be overflowing once they clinch this series. But right now, there’s a mass exodus from the bandwagon.

Just watched the JellyHD highlights with Bowen.

Leafs had a great start to the game, that was what it felt like. Very good first. If they kept that up, the win imo.

Crowd went mostly silent after the first goal... almost like they knew what was coming.

That Matthews turnover was so garbage. He snapped his stick after that play it looked like... where is that energy ON the ice?

Not at all. They were horrible. Fumbling and bumbling the puck all over the place, not forechecking at all. Ottawa was bad too and couldn't make a play yet the only 2 chances they had almost went in if not for the post and a great play by Tanev. Leafs were rattled since shift 1 where Matthews decided waving his stick around and not finishing his check and then falling over himself with nobody 10 meters near him was the way to lead his team.

I was getting worried. But no worries, Donnie is here.

There is adversity, yes:

1. Our PP was found out, Sens probably should have had a better plan going in to be honest.. We can't shoot. Do you have a fix for that?
2. Two straight shorties as the number 1 unit extends their shifts, rendering the second unit useless and us dead tired with 5 forwards.
3. Ottawa is well back in this series on the backs of Amadio/Greig/Pinto - Pinto played 21 minutes, Stutzle 17 and Cozens 15. Our superstars are getting beat by these guys.
4. Ullmark has found his game as Valiquette said he would
5. Marner not only didn't score but took the wrong route to Chabot, allowing him to wait for the screen and score.

So rather than just call people bandwagon fans, novices and the like... what would you do to win game 6?

I thought we had a decent first. All downhill after that.

IF the Leafs make it past Ottawa, we will get our colective asses beaten by Florida. As sure as death and taxes.
This team still has no killer instinct and still has any idea of how to deal with adversity on the ice. And, again, it all boils down to our superstars going AWOL far too often.
Break up the core. This still isn´t working.

This is by far the most indicting stat of the fraud four.

People always talk how it's because the playoffs are "too tough" but with how many 1 goal losses this team has, they simply are not good enough skill wise.

The pp shows us that, how do you have 1st/12th/22nd best goal scorers in the last 8 years with the 5th highest assist getter (Marner) and go 0 for 30? There is something "spiritually" wrong with them. Maybe they really honestly just don't care so playoffs for them is like a November/February random game because that might be one of the worst stats any talented core in their prime has ever produced in the playoffs in all of sports.
Well said - We all know they are hockey skilled enough to do a lot better than 0 for 30. Groups with much less skill than them do much better than that in the NHL. It sounds like something else, something spiritual as you say

Sure. And this would greatly exceed both of those calamaties. This would not be just another Montreal series. Don't kid yourself.
Why not? Both those teams equally sucked on paper and were massive underdogs. Just like Montreal going to the finals after is irrelevant so too would Ottawa beating Florida after hypothetically be just as irrelevant to the overall point that they completely butchered it

I dont care if Stolarz was the second coming tonight and the team sucked dick (missed the game due to super lengthy new phone purchase process lol)

Woll should play game 6. Stolarz got his chanced and its time for Woll now
Why?? What did stolarz do to lose the net? Blaming the wrong guy just sounds like a panic move

Intangibles. The best thing about hockey is that you can't just skill your way through it, you have to go out and get it. Even in this soft era of half hockey these guys fail, imagine them back when it was actually hard. :surrender

Berube claims to not be afraid of the matchup. He should be afraid.. very afraid.
It's identical to the arrogance that Keefe showed when he continuously deployed these 2 against Danault during the Montreal series.

Difference here is Danault was in MTL's top 6 - here, Matthews and Marner have largely avoided the Stutzle & Cozens line, and still arent having a positive impact at 5on5.

Above all else I don't want Knies corrupted by the core the way the core was corrupted by Marleau, Dubas and Shanahan.
Marleau was such an annoying player. Really frustrating watching him knowing he's having an influence on the core. He was the equivalent of the guy at the office who would train the new guy on how to do just enough to not get fired

Second and third, yes. First, they were good and clearly the better team. After that they were as you describe.

Right, because that's why Leafs fans are upset, the fact that we aren't going to go 16-0.

It's because in the last 4 games against the Sens we are 2-2 with our 2 wins coming in ot.

The Leafs are now 1-13 in series clinching games with this core 4.

In fact the Leafs have not won a playoff series in 5 or less games since 1963.

Saying this core has a lack of killer instinct, would be and understatement.
You take your facts and gtfo. How dare you tell the truth. But honestly yeah I expected this.
