Post-Game Talk: Leafs Book Their Tickets for Game 7 [MOD WARNING in OP]

Pelley was making tall claims beginning of the season "We are not here to sell jerseys"

I called BS on it the moment I heard it.

The only solace as far as I am concernd is Treliving growing some balls to ask Marner to waive his NTC/NMC to try to get Rantanen. To me that is absolutely clear that he doesn;'t have faith in marner having seen him against bruins so he was willing to trade marner.

I just hope that story is true and treliving doesn't bend over backwards. marner should be done as a Leaf after this season as far as I am concerned. Use that cap to find 2 power forwards who can put up 50 points each and can play a sandpaper high forchecking game.

In the playoffs fancy bullshit goes to hell and only hardwork/hardnosed hockey works

And thank god they made that that public so marner could face the media himself for the short remainder of time he has left here

They had some good looks... two posts, Marner in tight, Matthews over the net, Lorentz making one too many moves, their issue was converting on chances.

They didn't look good, but they definitely had chances.
Hasn't it been this way for eight years though?

All that just speaks to these guys not being clutch to me...

This is true. There's overreaction going on here, myself included.

But can you blame us, really? After what has happened for the last eighteen million years?

The Leafs can easily win next game. If anything they probably will too.

But with the history the way it is, the pessimism and frustration until then remains more than justified

So 1-13 on series clinching games. 0-30 pp streak on series clinching games.

Is there any precedent for this? And I ask that honestly. Is there any other team franchise of star players where something like this happens? Or is this top to bottom 100% completely unique to this Toronto Maple leaf core of star players? In other words, has ANYTHING like this happened spanning world history?
That’s insane, yet believable.

Just sucks. Had a 2 on 1 early in the game and shoots it wide. Miss the days where that was guaranteed in the back of the net.
That's just it. He has had opportunites over the past couple games where he either didn't get it in the net or couldn't collect the puck to get the chance. It's quite crazy to watch, as you say those were all automatic... imagine the difference it would make.

They way we played tonight reminded me the last 3 games we played against the Montreal when we blew that 3-1 series lead a few years back. Tired, scared, unexplainably demotivated... It almost already feels like it will be a game 7 with a similar result. Very sad...

I agree entirely.

I don't know how on Earth they could handle Florida but games aren't won or lost on paper. I think they'll win G6 but if they lose this series is over; there's just no way they have it in them to win G7 after Ottawa hypothetically comes back from being down 3-0. It would literally be the worst choke in modern NHL history.

Yeah I’m not watching game 6. I’m not doing this shit again. It was hard to watch tonight, team looked sooo bad! Matthews and Marner were no shows. Zero heart, zero toughness, it was like a regular season game. f*** this group
