Not to mention this expected point production on a third line does not exist in the NHL. It is mythical, an imagined unrealistic expectation that is silly and absurd.

The Leafs third line production is right in line , if not better then Carolina, Florida, Washington, Boston, Colorado, etc. How many points is honestly expected? Add to that that our second line is producing at a higher rate than many first lines.

Our third line as it is currently assembled is outplaying the lines they are facing. We have two players who excell at zone exits and entries in Mik and Engvall. They also have great possession numbers. All things point to that when they are on the ice the puck leaves and/or stays out of our zone. That is what you want in a third line. They don't capitalize on all of their chances - but that is a factor with all bottom rosters. Nothing needs to be fixed.

I pretty well never will rip on Hutchinson tbh. To start the year, he was our 4th string goalie behind Andersen, Campbell and Dell. Fact of the matter is that he was never meant to play, let alone start this many games, and given the nightmare situation our goaltending has been injury wise, Hutchinson has performed well above expectations. And yeah, he's gonna allow some questionable goals because that's where he's at as a goalie and people need to understand that. I am, rightfully so, much harder on Andersen because the role, the pay and the expectation that accompanies it is much greater and Freddy, much as I like the guy, has been mediocre for probably a year and half now

Not sure what people expect from a bottom 6.

If our top 5/6 players show up, that's all we need. There is a reason why those players are in the bottom six making near league min. They can't be expected to show up consistently on the scoresheet. What they add in terms of goals is just a bonus. You just want dependable minutes from them.

Yeah, Andersen is cooked. If Keefe wants to win in the playoffs, he needs to let go of that 200 pound anchor that is Andersen.

I thank him for his play over the past couple years but it's become evident that he cannot win close games, he likes facing 35-40 shots and seeing constant action and this defense basically allows their goalie to chill for long stretches of the game and needs them to be sharp on the odd mistake or two they make. He can't handle that kind of game.

Campbell's injury needs to be managed and I wouldn't start Hutch in the playoffs so the only real option is to either trust Campbell and hope he doesn't get injured or get another goalie by trading Andersen's cap hit. Ullmark would be a great addition.

Feels like we'd at least see some glimpses every now and then if this was the case.

Right now he looks like he's just trying to survive every shift. He's so far behind the play and struggling to find any time a space

Well to be fair he did play 10-12 really good games to start the year. If he can do that again, that'd be awesome.

Hutch was very good when Calgary was pressing early on and gave us a chance to get our offense going.

It was great to see Galchenyuk finally get rewarded for all his hard work.

Problem is that he's not being afforded load management (I'd imagine his choice as well) and it seems really short-sighted. If they were to do every other game or something, he'd be a good weapon in tight playoff hockey where so much action takes place along the boards, but this Joe who is 7 steps behind the play unless the puck is deep in the Ozone is not an effective player. He seems way behind on the PP, even, which is where I thought he'd thrive at the beginning of the year
 
Big win to get up 6 points in the division.

Would be nice to see the Leafs show up tonight and take over the game. The Flames are running out of chances to show their a playoff team. Another win tonight, especially in regulation, could be the nail in the coffin for the Flames as sellers at the deadline.

Of course Calgary's remaining 5 games against Montreal will be huge so they may be holding out for that.

Opportunity for the Leafs to show us that they're a good team that can put teams away.
