It’s been more important to win it this year than I recall in recent years. But then again we may just beat Tampa again.

Unfortunately for us, Vasilevskiy is back in superstar form. It will be more difficult to repeat that feat from a couple years ago. Vasi was more than a little generous back then.

I like the idea of winning the division and, if the stars should align, only having to go through one Florida team and not both....

But I'm ready to be hurt again.

They will be very hard to beat no doubt. But hockey can be funny. We can think we got a good matchup and get Columbus but lose to them.

The Leafs have shown us over the past 7 years to be afraid of any playoff opponent.

On the positive side, the core guys are in their prime. If they were going to figure out playoff hockey, now is the time.

A few guys get hot, and who knows what could happen.

How funny would it be that after all those trades the bruins still make it and get us.

This is one of the reasons I'm generally skeptical about acquiring rentals this late in the season: Sometimes it takes a lot more than 18-20 games to get used to a new team, system, etc. Especially for defensemen.

And in Carlo's case it's highly likely he's going to be tried out with a few partners between now and game #83.

These are NHL veterans and we're talking 2 players.

This isn't a major change, more incremental change.

Top 2 lines are unchanged, and replacing Timmins with Carlo.

I don't expect much change at all.

Put it this way, they've called up players from the AHL who aren't even NHL players and inserted them into the line-up.

Thought the Sabres just put 5 behind him?

Excited to see how/if Carlo stabilizes the back end starting tonight.

Hopefully Matthews begins to start looking like himself over the course of these last 20 games. We need him to start resembling at least a shadow of himself to go anywhere in April.

Agreed. But where we should see the improvement from these two is specifically on the PK.

I think I'd give Stolarz a run of the crease for a bit. Get him ready to take over the #1 spot. As we get closer to the playoffs you start giving Woll a few extra starts.
I would like to see how Stolarz manages games every other night for a stretch. See if we can mimic the playoffs a bit.

Projected lines showing Robertson to be scratched. That does not feel justified at all. He could still be on the 4th line over Jamcock and provide a threat while working hard. He's not great on the defensive wall but i don't know that Calle is any gem there either.
Where are you seeing the profected lines?

I also agree that it doesn't seem justified at all imo. I'd be pretty pissed if I were him.

I understand the skepticism and our guys definitely haven’t merited being given the benefit of the doubt in past playoff performances but can’t sell on a few points here:

-Keefe is gone and Bérubé has them playing a style of hockey that translates better into playoff style play.

-Carlo balanced out or defensive pairings and he and Tanev make us harder to play against than we have been at any point yet. Other teams will pay the price in a way they haven’t had to before.

-Stolarz has given us the best goaltending in years. We don’t have to score 5 goals every game to win, and that is also what you are looking at in the playoffs.

Lots to be cynical about and the playoffs always Spring fresh hope and old hurt, but this one feels different.

I like what we’ve done and while we aren’t the favourites in the East, we are going to make life hard for anyone if we play like we can.

Leafs win. They will win the Cup with the two additions
Leafs lose. We just wasted two 1sts and Minten on depth players while Dallas got Ranta for the same cost

Avs is a tough tough team to play this time of the year. Going to be a tough game for the boys
