I'm far from a Leafs fan but I agree.
This is as good as a chance as they are going to get.
They do have their 2026 1st, This draft isn't seen as overly strong So the 2026 1st is likely more value

The f***ing league is weak.
Especially when you look at Washington, are they actually a wagon? Washington has been passed the 2nd round once in Ovechkin's tenure there and thet went all the way.
Are the Jets a wagon? Will they still have regular season Hellebuyck, or will he turn into "HellYeahISuk" when it's crunch time ?
Then aside from those 2 teams who's really playing well that a team could be worried about ?
The main downside to the Leafs is they traded away assets for this year already to try before.

The onus is not on me to go and find the clip you started a thread about. Pretty sure there is a rule about needing a source. I call you out because you never provide one, and I have personally read your interpretation of an interview I listened to and disagreed with your summarization.
If you post a link to the clip of the interview or provide a timestamp or provide the source tweet or literally anything and I am wrong, I will gladly admit so and shut up. Until then, this is all speculation created by you.

...in my opinion, that's a bad trade for Toronto...Marner, for all his flaws, is still your main offensive catalyst...he is one of the most creative players in the League when it comes to offensive vision...Rantanen is a finisher, Matthews is a finisher, Nylander is a finisher...Marner stirs the drink; replacing him with someone who doesn't have that skillset, not to mention Marner's defensive skillset that Rantanen doesn't have, would be a bad move...imo...

If they resign Marner to a 13m deal which is probably what they’re going to do, how will they keep him longterm? They’ll have to hollow out the entire roster again.
Convincing Marner to waive his NMC would be a huge win for this team.

Trading Marner doesn't seem in line with being all-in though? I mean at best you are trading him for a similarly priced player of similar value. Just reshuffling.
Marner could handcuff this team all summer. Obviously there will be an offer on the table. Leafs won't be able to use that money until Marner makes up his mind. This has happened to many times before. He is going to take his time until the bidding starts. He is going to get north of 14.
