So Dreger was on first up on TSN radio and he said that there is an all in feel with the Leafs this year because he expects Marner to at least see What's out there July 1st.

A lot of Leaf fans won't agree with the all in approach but I do.

As of today the team is 1st in the Atlantic and top 5 in the NHL, if now isn't the time to go all in when is?

That doesn't mean you gut the future for rentals

But absolutely NOTHING short of Matthews should be untouchable.

EVERY draft pick, EVERY prospect

EVERY young player should be on the table.

I wouldn’t be that upset to see Marner leave. Despite the skill it just hasn’t worked in Toronto so far. There will be many that disagree but Matthews and Marner aren’t a good fit together but they keep putting them together.

Maybe someone that is a better fit comes in with that added cap space. The issue is that there is minimal skill for prospects coming up so it has to be done via free agency or trades

Zero percent chance the leafs are all in.
This is their year.

Caps are unproven.
Florida lost players now Tkachuk is injured.
Canes took a step back.

Jets have proven nothing.
Colorado isn't as good as their cup winning year.
Edmonton is very up and down and deep runs can take a lot out of you.
Vegas is great, a true threat with experience, but that's about it.

If they're gonna get it done, this is the year.

What do the Leafs even need ? They seem to be in a decent spot

They could really use a third line centre with some jam to his game that can eat some valuable minutes, play a two-way role and play a responsible game.

They absolutely could use a high end blue liner that can serve as a leader on their defence and ideally provide a shot option on the power play. I think their high-end forwards would be much more dangerous on special teams if the Maple Leafs had a legit shot option on D that needed to be respected and game-planned for on the PP.

They need to be tougher to play against. Their biggest weakness, to me, for years, has been how easy they are to play against. They don't wear down opponents in a series. They don't punish you for going to the front of their net. There's no price to pay for going into the corners. They don't finish checks in a meaningful manner. They have too many key players that shy away from physical play and wilt under pressure. They need pieces that fit for more a Berube style and play a heavy, hard-nosed, physical style that will make the Leafs a team that you don't want to face in a seven game series.
