Florida now 1 point back of Bruins but Bruins have a game in hand.

Seems like Florida would need to win the last 2 games for sure to have a chance at 1st place and Boston would have to get only 2 points out of their possible 6. Not sure what the tie breaker situation is at the moment. Unlikely for Florida to overtake Boston at this juncture.

I wonder if in that Panthers game, it came to overtime, the Leafs pull the goalie to stop the Panthers from getting a point and then beat the Lightning in the next game to take home ice advantage. (Also empty net for an extra player to get Matthews’ 70th for extra excitement)
?

it could very well be boston

Bruins play a desperate pens team tomorrow, while Florida plays the abysmal sabres.

Florida 1 point back, then they play us next

Boston still has the game in hand though so chances are they win out the division

And Boston has the vaunted Ottawa Senators for their last game. Just give Boston the two points now.

Beat Florida round 1, then slay another dragon in Boston round 2. That would be dreamy.

It doesn't matter who their opponents are the first two rounds.

I just hope the team finally proves me wrong. I've only been waiting decades for it to happen. Here's a news flash: the team doesn't lose because the fans are negative.

The fans are negative because the team keeps losing.

That's what passionate fans who care about their hometown team sound like. I would really love to break out the pom poms and be a cheerleader. Except every time I start to get my hopes up they let me down in humiliating fashion.

Like last year for example.

They finally won a playoffs series for the first time in almost twenty years. Broke out the beers and started celebrating like they just won the cup. Then proceeded to get utterly embarrassed the very next round.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are the laughing stock of the entire hockey world and for some reason fans are expected to cheer for that.

Bruins: 46-18-15 record, 79 games played so far, 107 pts
Panthers: 50-24-6 record, 80 games played so far, 106 pts

The Bruins only have 35 wins in regulation
42 ROWs( both regulation and overtime wins )

the panthers have 41 regulation wins
47 ROWs- both Regulation and overtime wins

Boston’s 3 remaining games:

At Pittsburgh,
At washington
Vs ottawa

Florida’s remaining games:

Vs sabres
Vs leafs

Both pens and caps are fighting hard for a playoff spot. They are both veteran teams with experience who are desperate and will do anything to win by any means necessary. And they’re playing the bruins at home. I expect the bruins to lose these two games on the road, but win at home against the sens in their last game of the season.

Panthers will be motivated to clinch the division and secure home ice advantage for the first two rounds(Atlantic playoff bracket). I expect to win their last two games.

btw panthers have the tiebreaker on the bruins. Florida has more wins in regulation/overtime and more wins overall than Boston. If both teams are tied in points, Florida wins the division.

Fans need to give off the positive vibes. Maybe they should bring back Red's pyramid power and positive ions to the dressing room.

Ok, as of this moment, I think this Leafs team is the best team they have going into the playoffs in years. The top guys are now in their prime, Matthews is the best he has been, same with Nylander. Marner should be well rested.

I think the Leafs are equal to anyone they will face. Not an underdog (at least in a major way) to any team in a 7 game series.

The only issue is, I think they have the hardest PATH to a cup that they ever faced. Take down Florida. Then EITHER the Bruins or Lighning likely will be tough, and then if you do that, a matchup with the Rangers? Or Carolina?
Again, Toronto can beat any of those teams, I REALLY think this is the best team they have going into the playoffs. Its just going to be tough beat ALL of them. But hey, some of us have been saying the regular season doesn't really matter much. Its almost over, now the fun starts.

I do know this, all around the league, even the first round, I think this year we are going to get some of the best series, best matchups we have had in a while. There are so many likely series that I want to see every game in around the league.

I know they will play Matthews until he hits 70, but now the games really don't mean anything.
I know 70 probably means a lot to him, it means a lot to most fans, probably his teammates also.
To me I wouldn't really care about it, it is so small compared to winning in the playoffs. If it was up to me, and yeah, I know it isn't, but it if was:
-2 games left, call up who you can for them. Half the roster gets off one of the 2 remaining games, the other half gets off the other game. And on the game you do play, no one up front is getting 20+ minutes and I try to keep the D-minute pretty even also.

Since we clinched all I do is check the box score to make sure he’s scoring. I haven’t even been paying that much attention otherwise tbh. Any team we could possibly play this year is going to be a hard battle regardless whether any of them go cold and we get hot or vice versa.

I'm sure Tavares will be sat for one of these two games. Maybe Bertuzzi, as well. Nylander and Marner will likely play both. Matthews will keep playing until he gets 70.

Playing the Bruins in round one (or any round for that matter) is a nightmare.
Ya I agree. All bravado aside, would rather not see them. I think Florida is a better team actually and I still prefer it. I think a win under our belts we'd have more confidence playing Bruins in a round 2.
