The Chytil goal was a kick in the old rule book. But seeing what has been allowed to transpire with the new rules allowing much more blatant soccer stuff by League Overlords, there is no way in hell that is not a goal. Shame on the Refs Shame on the League and Shame on Toronto. Even Company Man, NHL fanboy Joe thought it was wrong and said so…

And It'll be from Rangers media. The media team is too cordial. Firstly, I'd be harping on the Devils for playing on the MSG network but hey, I don't have that job for a reason.
I've said it before. Sam and Joe make every team seem like the 84 Oilers.

It's exhausting to listen to at this point. I don't need them to be homers, but I don't want to hear them heaping praise on Cindy when he's not even our f***ing opponent tonight. Literally not one person watching the MSG broadcast tonight has a single bit of sympathy for that shit franchise & their cry baby captain.

Man, junk food is a problem stateside... Not speech pathology.
Apropos of what?

Anyway, you're just tuning into this fact? LOL. It's literally an epidemic that some people in the media want to normalize. Live & let live...glamorize them in Hollywood, etc. It's extremely problematic, but anyone who mentions it is a hater or "fat shaming". That's the current state of normal here in the USA.

And this is why I hate the NHL and it's officiating. Incompetence and inconsistency abound. Somebody posted a goal against us by Calgary that was way more blatant than tonight and it counted. The NHL is a joke.

I’m honestly more upset about the fact the Rangers get called for more icings on attempted passes that get deflected than anyone in the league, yet Rangers opponents seem to be able to get away with even more egregious icing.

The Leaves suck. Another first round exit probably incoming. If not, they will get smoked in the second round by the Bruins.

Last time one of these went in against us it was allowed. So I kind of convinced myself at that time that the criteria is to do with safety: a player may pooch or redirect the puck in as long as the skate doesn’t come off the ice and potentially risk a skate blade injury to another player.
Then is see this and again, back to the drawing board.

Definitely something that needs to be addressed. Icing was instituted to keep teams from cynically dumping the puck out of their own end when they’re under pressure or want to kill time. Not to penalize a team trying a fast breakout.

They’re defeating the purpose of the rule calling it thoughtlessly like they do. They’re slowing the game down way more with all the icings.

Learned something new tonight about icings after watching this sport for 100 years. Twice the Rangers threw a puck out of their own end to the point, and both times the Leaf blue-liner whiffed at making a play on the puck - could have held it in or deflected it, but didn’t by like a quarter inch.

Puck thus went all the way to the opposite end boards, and icing was called on the Rangers both times.

This also seems to defeat the purpose of the rule.

Late observations after a 3-hour post-game commute from MSG. Yeah, this was the “Nobody Gives A Fk” game from puck drop, but still…

- Given the two disallowed goals, I am renaming this game the “Chytil’s Right Foot Game.”
- 100% agreement on other posts that Kreider and Kane were essentially playing an exhibition game. Please Dear God if there is really a ”Flip The Switch” let these two go first.
- I soooo want to give Vesey the benefit of the doubt on his moon shot on the breakaway - but even I can’t.
- The third goal against was a travesty of D by Tuba and Key. The Devils will pillage these two if they don’t figure out what’s wrong.
- Finally (yay !!) the number of decided-by-one-goal games this team has played (35+) AND LOST (20+) seems mathematically impossible, but here we are. I’m troubled by a lack of something - killer instinct, aggression, desire ? - that I think the Devils have in spades. I hope to be surprised in Round 1.

Sam needs to retire. The mistakes he makes arent funny anymore because every second sentence has him getting something wrong. The worst thing is that you can tell its annoying Micheletti to so it's affecting their chemistry.

Sam called Panarin's 2-1 goal "3-2" and corrected himself mid sentence so there was just silence in the booth until Joe swooped in to save him. It's time.

Sam should stay until his voice gives out. Television commentary isn't about technical accuracy or proficiency in getting every call right, it's about excitement, hype, and the aesthetic sound of a voice.

Kenny Albert is a passable eventual replacement but when I have to listen to other play by play guys from team feeds around the league and even ESPN's national guys, it makes my ears f***ing bleed. They are so monotone, corny, or just unlistenable.

Maybe if there were exciting play by play guys coming up but it doesn't seem like there are any.
