Speaking of dumb penalties, I was at the Coyotes game last night and watched Mike Smith cost the Coyotes a 5 on 3.

Caps had a delayed penalty for too many men so Smith was skating to the bench on the delayed penalty. As it was the second period on a long change, he had to cross the red line to get there, and the puck came to him. He decided to dump it into the zone, and incurred a delay of game penalty for touching the puck past the red line, costing the Coyotes a full 2 minutes of 5 on 3 (Caps had someone in the box serving a double minor at the time).
