No truth to that.

He's been at the Select 15, Select 16, Select 17, and NTDP evaluation camps. He's tried out for 3 US national teams so far (NTDP, U17 Five Nations, Hlinka).

Should have been more clear. Wasn't referring to the reticence specific to Fischer.

But clearly through the past decade or so there has been a preference for college players over those playing major junior (Hockey Canada tends to do the opposite).

I still kinda dont get why not. He hasnt represented USA on any major international event yet, has he?

And for example Adam Musil played for Canada at WHC with U17 and at Hlinka with U18, yet he still could switch and play for Czech U20 and Senior national team later in his career.

The U17 and Hlinka are not IIHF events.

IIHF has rules in place to determine player eligibility for multi-citizen players.

Update : he's still very good

Surprised for a draft where scouts love big defensemen (and sons of former NHLers) he'd gotten next to no hype. Bob McKenzie's ranking had him at 63rd (right above John Mustard who I think is equally underrated), so he has some eyes on him.

One insane thing I noticed. He was consistently getting over 30 minutes a night towards the end of Sarnia's season, which is ridiculous, and admittedly an insane TOI to give a guy his age regardless of skill level. Have to wonder if he suffered a bit of burnout which explains his second half not progressing as much. He's a very talented player but he was worked harder than many 20-year-olds in the OHL.

Another great Czech kid in St. Louis. I need to start researching Blue's jerseys to buy in about 4 years as that will be the most Eurofic roster filled with Slovaks, Czechs and fake Czechs like Fishcer. Please get a Czech goalie whenever Binnington is done in 3 or 4 years.

There is still hope for him no? He hasnt represented USA in any international tournament yet If I am not mistaken. He can play for Czech senior team one day

And I'm an Oiler fan and like Bro and Hollo. If half those guys work out... go Blues go! Jiricek with 3 points last night after returning! Kos had a 5 point game after returning too!

It's that bullshit 'have to play in domestic league for 2 years' rule I think. This benefits the NA players a lot more than the Czech ones. Domestic league for a North American includes NHL, NCAA, USHL, CHL. Domestic league for us is that shit U18 and U20 league and extraliga and I cannot recall one high end player saying 'I think I'll go develop in the Extraliga for 2 years'.lol It sucks and I hate it. But we got the Klima's elibigle for NT now. Same with the Musil's. That's how we get our Czechs back.. they bust out completely and return to our leagues and are eligible as 25 year old busts. Grrrr
