27 points in his last 25 games. When the hockey world gets to watch the Demidov-Hutson show next year, so many HF nerds will be crying themselves to sleep watching them light up the scoreboards.

While playing 22+min/game on one of the hottest teams in the league through that stretch...

Damn impressive for a 20yr old rookie dman

As an American, I really want him to develop and become great, but it's getting to be like it was with Tim Tebow. You literally can't say anything negative. It's like Russia has paid bots here like they do on X.
You can say he's average defensively , saying he's terrible is just plain wrong at this point. There's no debate.
I wasn't a believer or a fan boy of his, but the result are in our faces, either your're not watching or your bias.

He's above average defensively for a 20yr old NHL rookie dman playing 20+ min/night.

Hot takes devoid of context are just a bunch of hot air... Not understanding hockey doesn't make someone a "hater", it just makes for bad takes.
Yes, but also, let's not act like there aren't a bunch of haters in this thread...

That's cute that you think having star potential players isn't normal and that montreal will have some competitive advantage lol, guess its been a long time since montreal had someone considered a star. Hope you realize almost every contender has their version of hutson-demidov (or what you will assume will be their peaks anyway).

Either way - if you look at Lane Hutson's prospect thread, you'll see that before he was drafted i called him a top 15 pick and wanted him, but you have fun with your bragging rights

The stats are right there in the post.
What stats?
Make your argument, because from the stats you posted previously, it looks like you don't have a clear understanding of their meaning. Hutson isn't a terrible defensive player, that's just horse shit at this point.

Nah, the Russian bots post about Michkov. It's a bunch of snooty hockey-loving French speaking bots that post about the Church of Lane.

I already made my arguement. His xGA and HDCA numbers at 5v5 are some of the worst in the entire league. He generates offense at an elite level. There is my arguement. People in here want to act like he's a good defender so I disagree. I never said he's a bad player and I'm not a troll.

You can't take that stat alone to make a conclusion.

It is just wrong from rational point of view. But also makes you look very bias, even tho you claim you aren't... Hard to tell if you're wrong or bias.

As hard as people try, you can't take away what Hutson has been able to do this year. If you look at the list of past rookies who have accomplished what he already has this season, you'll realize he's in some pretty prestigious company. And I think he has been fine defensively, that part of his game is being completely overblown. It makes sense though, he's naturally going to get a lot of heat/hate playing for one of the major market teams.

If we make these posts after every point, this thread is going to get really, really long.
It will be...but as long as every point is part of the current streak or part of a future streak it is something to watch. He is on an 8 game heater. Eclipsing his previous record of a 7 game point streak.

The guy is doing something special this year!

You are just spewing what people intially thought and throwing shit and hoping it sticks. Even commentators were talking the other day that he is good on D. Always first one back. For a 20 year old, elite offensive player, his Defense has been pretty dman good.

You don't watch Habs games so how would you even know? And if you did, you clearly don't know much about hockey then.

A lot of talk about him being bad defensively but not a lot of context included.

His e+/- (xGF-xGA) is second on the Habs. His possession stats are top few on the Habs almost across the board. 3rd best GA/60 among Habs dmen (while having best GF/60 among their d), relative stats second only to Struble... He's got some of the better defensive metrics on the Habs.

Really good stats for a 20 year old.
Why are you trying to throw in his offense to justify his defense? You seem to be trying to have your cake and eat it to. Using his offensive generation to pretend his defense is better than it is, while then ALSO using that same offensive generation again.

"His e+/- (xGF-xGA) is second on the Habs"

His xGA (you know, the defense part) is dead last among habs dmen, but it's convenient to leave that out.

His elite offensive generation makes up for his defensive deficiencies. It doesn't mean they aren't there.

"3rd best GA/60 among Habs dmen"

Carrier, Barron (you can combine them as one if you want), Savard, Xhekaj all rank better in this category.

Meanwhile.

Among NHL dmen:

197th/206 in xGA/60

154th in CA

174th in GA/60

Lying about his defense just makes you hard to take seriously.

Out of the 73 20 year old dmen to amass 600 5v5 minutes in a year since 2007, Hutson ranks 72nd in xGA/60 and 67th in GA/60. So no, not quite.

He ranks 3rd in xGF/60 tho, because he is elite offensively
