Anyone who watches the USHL have an opinion on this UMass comit’s projectability? From the very few highlights I’ve seen he looks like a real steady-Eddie.

Yeah, he’s good. Was going to make a thread for him probably next week.

I think this guy is trending towards being a draft pick down the road. He’s one of the youngest players in the USHL this season, and is playing regular minutes for a good team. He’s probably like a two-way defenseman. Skates well. Doesn’t defend bad and can move pucks. He can be aggressive with jumping into rushes, although he mostly keeps it safe for now. I don’t see elite tools, but for one of the youngest players in the league he’s been good. I see him as like a middle round pick for 2026, potentially higher.

I think he also has a good chance to make the US Hlinka team in the summer.

Really impressive for a late birthday 2007 to step right into the USHL and be a steady two way defenseman. UMass recruits a good amount of Michiganders, so not too surprising he's going there.

I think he's probably taller than his listed height. Wouldn't be surprised if he's about 6'3.

my view he’s probably top 2007 dmen in the ushl and will get drafted - only other Rombach from lincoln but right now he’s a mixed bag on reports i’ve seen and not good at hlinka . most other 2007 dmen limited playing time i can think of

Grimes will get drafted. Nycz is probably a step below Grimes right now IMHO

i like grimes - mobile puck moving dmen - the issue in games i’ve seen sioux this year is not great defensively and sioux loaded on defense so he’s going have limited opportunity and looks like he was sharing second power play with bongo 2007 so it looks to me , it’s early , but nycz coach has put him in the best position with ice time to have a great year .

Nycz is a 2026 eligible, so he won’t be on the Central Scouting list until next year.

2 assists tonight. 4+7=11 points in 18 games. Somehow didn't make the WJAC19 team. Think he's trending towards at least a second or third round pick, if he can keep this up. First round could also be in play.

Hes commited to Umass but they are loaded with freshmen dmen so interesting to see what he does .

Just depends on if he graduates HS this year or not. Most late 2007 birthdays in the States would graduate HS in 2026, but I do know that a lot of school districts across Michigan have a later cut date, so it is possible that Nycz is class of 2025 and wouldn't have to accelerate. He's definitely playing pretty well in his 17 year old season.

another assist so far - he projects better than any kid i remember going into his draft year at this point . i would think he leaves umass like Pitner did and signs with another team

wow - crazy ! was having a good year . lot of trades out of waterloo this year ,

Has 0+5=5 points in 6 games since the trade. Was 0+2 last night and a +4 in the +/- column. Has 5+18=23 points in 40 games. He’ll be picked in the top two rounds next year.
