Having Drysdale, Zellweger and Korchinski on the ice at all times would be fun. We'd have to find big physical defensemen I'd like Noah Warren, Ryan Chesley, Bischel with one of our next 3 picks... Get a high top end forward next draft. Ducks have a lot of picks in the first 2 rounds and may get more for Gibson.
Yup, that's been my contention all along. Load up on D this year.

Having a rough 3rd thus far imo, still a lot of time left though.

Yeah he got crushed by Bankier or Toporowski I think. They split him away from Bauer but Kamloops was going to push eventually. They waited until the third and they played like they were down in a Game 7 in their building. Overall he had a strong game and nothing glaring but some battles lost.

He was benched for atleast the last 6-7 minutes. He had some really bad offensive zone turn overs in the 3rd as well.... Seattle was also down a defensemen and they still didn't put him out there.

He got rocked by that hit into the boards though. The announcer said it was Hanzel but it was 14 Korchinski. That had to be the last shift he saw or at least one of them. Forgot when in the third period but he played plenty until that hit. He averages like 23-25 mins a game and so getting benched in a game of that magnitude would be a shocking move, especially leading 3-1 in the third period. He's been their MVP back there all season.

He looked fine celebrating and full speed crashing into the group lol

I'm a little surprised he's not the WHL rookie of the year. Very solid regular season and brilliant playoffs. Maybe because he is a 17-year-old player? Does anyone know how these awards are chosen?

It was a messed up season to begin with for rookies because of Covid - but since he played last year as a 16-year-old, even if it was for only 21 games, he still played the majority of the season he was eligible for so he wasn't counted as a true rookie. whereas Yager, shouldn't have played last year but covid restrictions made it so he could play a fair amount of games as a 15-year-old, even though in a normal year he wouldn't have been able to. so he was eligible.

If we're being completely honest though, Bedard deserved the ROTY this year but there were so many things messed up this year they probably said "Rookie of the year goes to a 16-year-old not named Bedard"

He win the U.S. Division's rookie of the year. That means league think he is eligible.

Korchinski was a rookie this season, just lost out to Yager.

He was 1 of the 4 nominees for rookie of the year

Bedard won rookie of the year last season, can't be nominated two separate seasons

The GM's and media members voted for the true 16 year old rookie with 34 goals, nothing too strange about that

Yager was unbelievable this season. In my opinion it was probably an extremely close vote for the winner of Rookie of the Year. I truly didn't know who would have been named the winner since there were a few very good choices. Andrew Cristall could easily have won the award too after his great season and leading all the nominees in scoring

Nothing against Pickering, but I kind of figured the award would be between Korchinski, Yager and Cristall.

He’s going top 10. That’s not a guess

I can see the Ducks going after him. Like I said previously, they lost Lindholm and Verbeek being their GM makes me think he'll invest heavily into defense like he did in Detroit and Tampa.

Cristall didn't get a lot of hype this year, not many people know about him, and Rockets aren't a very focused team. But IMO he is a leader in the team, instead of just a support player (as a big fan).
Of the three, Kevin had the best playoff performance and AC had the best regular-season stats. I think Benson should be a name, but there seems to be little discussion of him either.

I see Detroit going for him, they've recently been going for huge upside and projectable players (and getting huge success).... imagine if KK actually grows to 6'4... the Wings would have a giant three headed defensive trio who can skate very well... Seider/Edvinsson/Korchinski...

I think they have enough LD where they wouldn't need to use another top-10 on one. Especially with some forwards being higher ranked on most draft boards. If Korchinski goes top-10 it is probably to Anaheim unless Columbus grabs him very early.

You can't ever have enough high end defensemen. Looking at their depth, they have alot of two way guys, and size but they don't have an offensive dynamo. I like Hronek but I wouldn't call him a #1 PP type of guy. If they picked KK, they could focus on all forwards with the rest of their picks since they have all the defensive depth they need.

Detroit has more LD prospects than they know what to do with.

Edvinsson
Wallinder
Buium
Johansson
Viro
McIsaac

I'm no mind reader but I'm confident that Korchinski is one guy they won't be picking. Korchinski isn't an Yzerman kind of defenseman. Korchinski is definitely more offensively inclined.

Also Detroit's PP1 guy is Seider. Hronek probably isn't long for Detroit so if anything they would need a RD replacement for him on the 2nd pair. My hopes are Klingberg in free agency, or they make a move for a solid shutdown guy like Cernak.

I'm not a fan of Klingberg for the Wings long term (unless the contract is good, but I doubt it will be). Korchinski and Seider as the future top PP unit could be really top-end.

I'm really jealous of the Wings defensive prospects...
