Up to 4 pts in 5 games now... 2g.2a.

I think they took away one of his assists. I am still sceptical about his physical prowess, but I d have to admit that his shot got so much better over the last years. Two years ago it was not even on a pro level and now he's generating offense in the NHL with it. Impressive...

Moser isnt really comparable to Josi in 2010. Josi was arguably the best D in the league that year, especially in the playoffs where he dominated and was a big factor for Bern winning the championship. I really like Moser but I am a bit concerned how his offence will translate on a higher level. Besides that he needs to get stronger to.

I wonder how his offence will translate on a higher level ?? Like a BOMB !! :-)

And yes ... they removed an assist on the 3rd goal since another player (ladd) touched the puck before entering the net. He became the 3rd Assist :-) Which is comparable to the chocolate medal in the olympics.

I agree, I never thought he could hold his PPG pace this long but he keeps proving me wrong. I initially thought last year that Berni and Aebischer (I am still really high on him too) had more NHL potential but Moser had an extremely impressive season so far and some of the points he scored came in very important moments for his club wich makes him the most promising prospect for our country right now. Switzerland hasnt had a top 4 dman in the NHL since Josi, so lets hope that Moser can fill this void eventually. It will be interesting to see how early he will go in next years draft as he will be definitely one of the more predictable players with lots of ice time this season.

I started to read your posts since i am also im waud (Im Wald).

come on ... Siegenthaler ? Even Micro Mueller ... with a bit of luck could have made the top 4.

Josi was and has allways been true Elite player. And before him Streit ... (all from Bern und umgebung :-) )
And , what i see, (i just watched some of the last games of the coyotes) ... JJMoser could be somewhere in the middle.

Mosers sample size in the NHL is still extremely small so far. Especially in his first game he has struggled with the physical aspect of the NHL game. Yes he had an impressive start, but projecting him being better than Streit who was an NHL Captain and at least for a few seasons one of the best offensive defensemen in the league is still way to early. Lets not forget that his shooting% is at 40% right now wich is not sustainable whatsoever. Lets wait how his statline looks at the end of the season.

Still he is doing better than I anticipated and I am pleased he is getting the opportunity on the team that he does.

I agree with you. I meant him (Moser) between josi/Streit and Sigenthaler / Muller :-)
I don't see him neither running for the Norris.
As per his physical aspect ... he will never become a bouncer ... we agree .... but he will fill up to his potential. Probably and hopefully.

But he is , so far, bringing an improvement in the Coyote team. In the PP, puck movmt ... . (i didn't see it by my eyes , i just correlate to what Tourigny says in terms improvement of his team, on the number of games played WITH presence of JJMoser on the PP and on ice).

I like what Arizona is doing with their defence. They’re giving their young players a chance to prove themselves rather than bringing in a vet to play those minutes to see what they have.
Kolyachonok, Dineen, Moser, Mayo, Capiobianco are all young defenders who have been given looks on their D core this year with various degrees of success. Makes sense as a rebuilding team to see what you have out of the guys in your system and I applaud them for this.

How has Moser been playing this year? Looks to be on Yotes top pair. What’s his projection? Would be top pairing guy on most other teams?

He's a great fit for the Coyotes and is growing into a very solid D. He gets PP time as he has some good quarterback qualities.

I'd say he wouldn't get any top pairing minutes in most teams (unless maybe SJS). He might crack some Top4 spots.

As I wrote. It's a win-win right now. The Yotes can see if he will be a longterm piece to lock in - and he might establish as a Top4 guy in their roster. But the Yotes need a legit Top-Pair to be held a serious thread. Their propsect pool is large and they are still rebuilding.

When relocation happens, they might be abble getting a big UFA signing or doing a trade for some Top2-D ... right now, I doubt some big name signs there.

He's a very underrated minute muncher and sadly looks good every time he plays against the Ducks.

I wouldn't call it a sophomore slump necessarily but it looks like he is a little bit off from last year. Maybe playing heavier minutes is affecting him or the fact that the yotes D is absolute dog sh*t.

"Speaking of underrated, J.J. Moser is an impressive under-the-radar defenseman. The 23-year-old’s steady two-way intelligence has allowed him to keep his head above water despite being assigned the toughest matchups on the Coyotes’ blue line. Moser has spent a decent chunk of the season alongside Sean Durzi, who’s blossoming with a bigger role in Arizona."

Here's an article about top pairs performance by the Athletic ...

He’s very good, only hampered by being forced into a top pairing role because the coyotes are still rebuilding and need more D help.

When they get their new arena and have stability he should be a good steady top 4 D to go with their other D prospects that’ll be coming up along with whoever they draft this year.
