I like this guy. Tons of potential.

I'm guessing that he isn't cut out for academics. USHL is fine, for now. Then the AHL. Not every kid needs to go the CHL, especially a US kid.

He might end up being nothing more than a minor leaguer, but I'd give up a draft pick in order to get him.

I had not been keeping track of J.D., so was surprised last night to see him on the ice for Dubuque versus the NTDP U17 team. He played a solid, but uneventful, game on defense -- no points, no real defensive gaffs, one penalty. When he took the penalty, all I could think of was that, with different choices, he could have spent a lot of time in the other penalty box, since he was a draft pick of the former owners of the arena -- the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL.
