I think he could have a career similar to Willie Mitchell. Not because their tool sets are exactly alike - Samberg's bigger and a much better skater - but in terms of role and impact at the NHL level. I think Samberg has more natural offensive ability than Willie, but like Mitchell, I doubt he'll ever be a big point producer.

If end up playing 20 min a night as a modern shut down man, Jets would end up very happy.

Not sure if Mitchell is a good comparison, other than the career games played, maybe.

He reminds me more of a Muzzin or Josh Manson type of player.

It's hard to assess his offensive potential playing in the UMD system.

In any case, he's just what the Jets need in their system. A big, mobile, minute-munching defensive D who can move the puck quickly.

Is he likely to sign with the Jets? Back-to-back Championships...not much left for him to do in college. Curious if he or Perunovich would come back...but Samberg especially has the physicality to make the pro jump smoothly.

Decided to return for his Junior year
surprising consider Anderson left.
Wants to make history for three-peat

Could be a blow to Winnipeg with their defense in flux on the right side with Trouba and Myers.

He'd have likely started in the AHL regardless, as I'm sure we'll find or sign some 6/7 dmen Mo can overplay instead of giving a young guy a shot.

Hometown kid, wants the 3-peat.

Watched much of the Jets’ last three games and it’s almost like he gets visibly better every shift. Last night was a really strong performance in every zone.
He looked good and moved like he knew what he was doing to my eyes. WPG has a good young defender to add to the collection. You have to think with guys like him and Seider starting to pop up teams will go back to more defensive defensemen after a decent stretch of grabbing up smaller guys in high rounds, some of whom aren't elite skaters.

He is what I would call a "Modern Big defensive D man". He has size and can skate. His offense is never going to be explosive but he can move the puck. His stretch passing is really impressive. He should never come out of the lineup IMO. Really he needs to be on the 2nd pair with Pionk going forward
