I maintain that if Trevor Connelly didn't take that awful penalty and USA won the World U18's last year that basically all those guys on that team would've went higher. The team that wins that tournament tends to see their team have risers (and the teams with a lot of draft prospects that don't win sees their players go the other way).

Disgraceful to me that the mercenary who ruined the Gold Medal for that team didn't see his draft stock drop at all and the players who did good work all year had the mercenary ruin things for them. I'm not in favor of prosecuting Connelly over what happens off the ice (I think people exaggerate that stuff), but I think you're a pretty bad evaluator of bringing in winners to your team when you prioritize a proven loser like that (good job Vegas).

Led the tournament in points. Had 3+8=11 points in 7 games.

Thought he was the best player at the tournament this year. An absolute creative force. And he defended pretty well. Was very audacious with the types of plays he attempted and looked to be the main protagonist on the ice virtually every shift.

43rd overall. You'd think the NHL community would've realized in June (as if we really needed to see Lane validate it all for a full season this year to believe in it) "well, we totally screwed up Lane's draft position, so we have a re-do and we shouldn't get it wrong by a full round." I regret to inform everyone they did it again (congrats Caps).

A lot of "oops" going around NHL front offices after this tournament.

Maybe Cole would want to force a trade, so he can play with his big bro?

Please?
More likely the other way around. Caps already have a very good team with a lot of young players on it and more are on the way with Leonard, Cristall, Parascak, Protas and Hutson on the way. Also guys like Sikora and Mateiko had very good WJC. Surprisingly deep prospect pool for the Caps.

For sure

But Habs are exiting their rebuild and are loaded with young and promising players

Plus, Hutson is a God in Montréal
