The Coyotes aren't trading a cheaper player for a more expensive one ... a younger player for an older one ... a player with term for a pending UFA ... a physical player for a finesse one ... and a popular player for one who already asked out of ARZ once.

Nothing about this trade makes any sense for ARZ. Like, at all.

I didn’t know he asked out of AZ, sorry.

To me, Crouse is a tier above Domi in value, if the idea is to ultimately trade for a draft pick or prospect. His premium play style offsets Domi's positional advantage. He comes with the extra year of control.

Arizona also only has 1 retention slot remaining, with Kessel still on the roster. Crouse is easily moveable at his number in full. Domi is not.

Why would Arizona do this with no add at all? It's lateral at best. If they're going to trade Domi, they might as well just not do this deal and look for a straight up deal for Crouse

If AZ moves Chychrun how much more can they move out?

At some point you need some talent on the roster to insulate/play with your graduating prospects. I feel like Keller, Crouse, etc represent that. Probably takes an overpay.

Two weeks ago, the Coyotes told Friedman they plan on keeping Crouse.

Go ahead and take him out of your trade proposals.

Gnome killer is on the trade block?

I mean I'd trade Domi for him, but why is Arizona looking to reacquire Domi for one of their better players?

The Jackets need some physicality and a guy that can fit into the bottom 6 long term, the Coyotes get a guy that they know can play in the top 6 and produce, or trade at the TDL.

Domi
For
Crouse

As a base?
I'm not sure either team does this.

Why would the Coyotes want a rental? If they want to trade Crouse, why not trade him for futures at the TDL?

Why would Columbus want Crouse? He's a depth player.
Why not sell Domi to a contender for max value ie. futures?
