So seems the Rags and Laviolette will be parting ways soon. I read that the players have essentially quit on him. Not sure what else goes into going from President's Trophy to whatever this year is, but that could explain it.

So the caveat being that it seems Lou is here to stay and the likely scapegoat is Roy. If that were to happen, does anyone like the idea of bringing Laviolette in? His resume speaks for itself, numerous playoff appearances and a Cup win. There have been times when he was shown the door of course, so he isn't the perfect coach. But I don't think he would find himself out of a job long.

I'm not saying Roy is the one to blame and should be chopped necessarily, I'm going based on that seems to be the assumed direction things will go with Lou staying. If that occurs I'd love to see Laviolette back with the team. I do have concerns though that problems may be Lou and his team, and that no coach can succeed in these conditions.

I think Laviolette, Tortorella, Trotz all produce similar results in that the team responds to hard coaching early in their tenure and then the players tune them out once things start going south in year 2-3-4.
I don't know if that is a symptom of the player-empowerment trend we've seen across sports or that their message is overly redundant, but it does seem that each team they coach winds up in that cycle.

My question is, how would Laviolette differ from how hard this group of players were coached under Trotz and even now under Roy?

If you were to hire Laviolette, I would okay with the hire with a largely refreshed roster. And even then, I would expect to be searching for a new coach again within 4-5 years.

Roy and LL
For
Lavy, Drury and a non-protected 1st

Then have the Rangers lose every game to make it #1 overall

Fire Drury and Lavy and rehire the others

Weren’t the rags like 12-3 to start this year as well? Hard to believe players quit by suddenly just flipping a switch

This team needs a complete rebuild, will be pointless to bring in a experienced coach before that, once we get the rebuild going we can talk about who should coach

What a clown show that would be.
Maybe, cannot be worse than having Mr Magoo as GM... He was a good GM before electricity... Then After ruining the Devs not winning shit in Toronto he has managed to clasp the cuffs on this franchise for a few years at least.....
Roy knows what he has got here....
Does Lou?
He still thinks he can sign Clutterbuck back I bet....
Maybe extend Zeeker for another 3 years in his dreams?
As for Lavy, He is a Cup Winner, has a shelf life but is a competent coach.
Wow it would piss Stranger Fans off if he was successful here again.

Kinda funny. Kakko was actually an effective 5v5 player in a 3rd line role. Cuylie thrugh the first 20 games or so was as well. IDK - I think I would prefer a Kakko over a Sam Carrick or Jimmy Vesey for this year. But by all means keep playing those guys.

Laviolette is not a guy with staying power and was not the fit for this group of round rinkers (no corners). For a coach like him to be successful, he needs to be able to bring in a couple of guys to manage the room. Don't think he has that and the leadership group there is soft. By all means keep those guys too.

Lost in the razzle dazzle of PPs generated by diving ( ala Pittsburgh), both Mika and the Bread Boy were looked at something less than playoff warriors at one time. Perhaps they are that. Would actually be nice to have one of them here though.

Given the sate of affairs here, I almost don't care about their struggles and actually hope they turn it around in time to just miss the playoffs. The west coast swing for them looks like the tipping point for the downward spiral. Ours was too (Seattle). Mika hasn't scored an even strength goal since. We have a version of that too.

Wasnt Lavy let go from Isles due to him "losing the team"
