Slowly but surely, the prevailing, if not ingrained mischaracterization of Beck as being merely a bottom six,, defence orientated forward will be dissipated. People have to stop just parroting what they read on forums like this ( including my own opinions) and come to there own conclusions.

For this observer, who has followed Beck's development closely since he was drafted, it became quickly apparent that we had drafted a player with superior hockey skills: explosive skating, high offensive vision and excellent shooting ability. It has come as no surprise that Beck is leading Laval in scoring as a 20 year rookie. Where this mantra that Beck projected as a mere bottom six forward came from was, and remains, a mystery.

As I said many times over the more than twenty years I have been posting on this forum, independent thought is a good thing. More should exercise it.

You and Rapala bring up great points! One thing that Rapala said is even when Beck isn't bringing his typical "A" game he still brings other things. Sometimes your "B" game is just as important.
Also Admiral I am seeing more to Beck's game than bottom 6 potential. Maybe he tops out as a 3rd line center but I think his upside is higher than that.

If any reader wants to get a good read on the status of any of our prospects I would strongly suggest that they subscribe to FloHockey. While a bit pricey and the production levels of this stream are at times, only a notch above a high school A/V course, a FloHockey subscription provides a good opportunity to gain a first hand assessment of the team's prospects. It's also very insightful to watch the feed of opposing teams ( you have the choice) and hear what other teams' announcers think about the strengths of our prospects. Those opinions are largely unfiltered and unbiased. I can advise that these announcers' appreciation/acknowledgment of Beck's skills and high potential is universal.​

Frankly, you have to be blind to not see it.

That's how I feel about Caufield as well. When he isnt sniping, he is setting up plays and always gives effort on both ends of the ice.

While there are few here who appreciate and tout Beck's potential more than this writer, his ultimate position on the team's depth chart must realistically take into consideration the other players who will be vying for playing time. Suzuki is the team's number 1 center going forward for the immediate future. But I think Hage's potential is enormous. I have watched this kid closely and if Hage gets a bit stronger (which he will) he will only get faster and may well end up as Montreal's number 1 center displacing Suzuki. This kid is gold. And will soon be regarded as the steal of the draft. If that has not already happened.

Going forward, a center cadre of Suzuki, Hage and Beck will provide Montreal with a core forward group that will lead the charge of the team's re-build.

Montreal fans should be excited. It's about time.
