I think the Leafs have 1 deal all but agreed upon, but things are still up in the air due to a potential for a 2nd bigger deal that's still on the table. If they can make the 2nd deal work, they will have to take it almost right up to the deadline to make the cap work.
My guess is the 1 that is agreed upon is a base deal for Laughton with Philly but one of the 2 big UFA's no one expects to move(Marchand or Crosby) is also warming up. If deal 2 becomes an option, it kills deal 1 type thing

Minten+3rd for Laughton. Philly is high on Laughton but a cpl of their scouts are in love with Minten
1st+Cowan+Domi for Crosby/Mrchand, sure they can get a better deal but Crosby/Marchand are all but controlling the destination
Robertson for a big #5 RHD
So if the Leafs don’t get Crosby then their default is Laughton? Could you imagine the cost to acquire Crosby?

my spidey sense says 1st+Cowan+Domi, keep in mind its a case of the upcoming UFA holding all the cards and the deal will reflect that, also I don't think its Crosby

For Laughton that could be a deal framework. Crosby’s cost would be significantly more. He’s got two years on a good number.
Why the hell did I think Crosby was an upcoming UFA lol, so then that can mean my spidey sense is saying Marchand or it was being coy about a deal or deals being done with J.T and Marner

Yeah I'm not sure I get that. Seems like the same player to me. His two best seasons were 43 points two years ago and 39 points last year, and he's on pace for 39 again this year, so.
if anything Laughton's numbers are better because he gets 20s seconds PP time vs 1.20 seconds last year. Konecny was a beast on PK last year and this year his SH numbers went down a bit. Obviously, @Gregor Samsa has no clue.

I honestly think it’s the most reasonably add for Toronto. The price should be a 2nd + any prospect not named Minten, Cowan or Danford.

He’s got another year which works well with Minten’s development within the club.

Acquiring Laughton really allows the Leafs to play 3 lines that score and are not defensive disasters.

Knies Matthews Domi
Patches JT Marner
McMann Laughton Nylander
1st line lacks consistency outside of Matthews

2nd line will be skated circles around as it is slow outside of Marner

3rd line is just bad

This makes Toronto worse. If you want to roll all 3 equally then you are just sacrificing minutes from your best players for lesser players. If you want to roll 2 then you lose minutes to one of your stars. This is not well thought out.

Wow. You give haters a bad name. If you want to hate on the Leafs maybe spend 15 seconds doing some homework?

What makes Knies inconsistent exactly?

A line with Marner and Tavares is getting "circles skated around them" why?

What makes the third line "just plain bad". Two of the two 60 goal scoring wingers in the NHL? Nylander being second in the league and McMann being a big bodied, strong skater also.

How about this? What team would have three better lines?

This player is NOT worth a first round pick or blue chip prospect. He is a 4th liner. I really want Toronto to keep away from him.

I've said on the flyers board Laughton is a twenty goal guy but if he's seeing enough minutes to pot twenty goals your team isn't very good. The flyers aren't very good.He was an absolute beast in the Bubble and a clutch character guy. The flyers have just been in a position for way to long that that skill set isn't very important. JT Miller went to the rangers best intangibles guy out there is miller lite and briere who made a career of performing when it counted knows what that's worth to hockey people so he's not parting with him cheap
