With J.T going on IR and our need for a better 3C even when everyone is healthy, I think now is the time to pull the trigger. What would he cost?

Wasn't there already a thread for this? Anyway, a 1st and since it's a late first, + a higher end prospect.

I think thats too much, plus it would be a 2026 1st and I would be surprised if they move that pick.
I think it falls more along the lines of a 2nd and prospect not named Cowan or Minten

Given that there have been semi-credible reports that the Flyers have previously turned down a first for Laughton, and there are constant reports that they like him, and feel he's important to the team's culture (and culture is BY FAR the thing they care about most), he's almost certainly not going anywhere unless we get a 1st+ back for him. If Toronto can't justify moving either the 26 or 27 #1 and something else, the Flyers will keep him unless someone else can.

Is Laughton "worth" a first? Probably not. Is Laughton the exact kind of guy that gets a 1st and a 3rd or something along those lines? Absolutely

Then you're prob not going to acquire Laughton, sadly.
ok what about Grebenkin+26 1st+ 26 4th for Laughton+26 2nd or 1 of the 2025 2nds that we then flip for a 26 2nd at the draft)

Late 1st round and 3rd/4th sounds reasonable, maybe a scrub sent back to shed some salary from the Leafs...but the Flyers love "culture" players...lol

a 26 1st+27 4th hurts but Laughton will fit our top 9 like a glove, He can step in and play LW in the top 6 for a stint, add another tool to our PK and play the ideal 3c role on a deep top 9

Leafton to the laughs ? No one ?

Anyways, Flyers are still in the mix, why would they move him ? The answer is overpayment so yeah 1st plus good prospect I guess, but I certainly wouldn't want my team to do that.

This does make sense. Friedman mentioned last year that their bottom 6 have consistently been just 'guys' with the big 4 taking up all of the oxygen and identity of the team. Laughton could help that certainly and is an asset on the PK. History with Berube and term.

They were in the mix last year when they traded Walker.
