Confirmed with Link: Laughton 50 Retention A 4th and A 6th to the Leafs for A Conditional 2027 1st Round Pick and Nikita Grebenkin

Two things can be true. Yes Laughton hasn't worked out. Neither has Brock
But Brock doesn't play for us
Trying to show the short bus folks, that it’s only been a couple of games.

I really don’t know what people were thinking we were getting?

Someone who's an upgrade in comparison to our other bottom 6.
Nobody expected him to be the next Doug Gimour. But we expected him to be better than what he has shown so far

Right now there's nothign he brings that we don't have in Kampf or others

I know he'll turn it around because he is better than this. But as of today, he's been a flop considering what we paid

Ahhhh…all been decided after 4 games by our very level headed fans.

So, I guess Stolarz was a terrible signing too, based on his last 4 games.

So, I guess Stolarz was a terrible signing too, based on his last 4 games.

First of all, Storalz also played 20 other games where he was solid. He gets benefit of the doubt for 4 bad games
We also didn't give up a prospect and a 1st for Stolarz

Stolarz last year also had an average of 2.03 in 27 games with 16 wins and 7 losses. He gets all the benefit of the doubt

in 6 games Laughton hasn't done anything to say you know what this has been a good trade. Especially when we have seen this movie before with Nik Foligno

As I also alluded to earlier, I think he's better than what he he has shown. If anyone here is not level headed, it isn't me.

Not much time, but he's been bad, hopefully he turns it around.

The red flag that concerns me is after a good career as a 3C, sometimes 2C on bad Flyers teams he started to struggle and then was moved to the wing where his play rebounded.

If he's not good enough anymore to be a centre on a bad team who's C depth looks like: The husk of Sean Couturier, Noah Cates, Ryan Poehling, ??? that's concerning.

Your Pro scouts better know what their doing if you're slotting him into the 3C hole on a playoff team.

He was never a good 3C on the Flyers… ever over the course of his ten year career. 4C yes but once he moved up he had to go to wing. It blows my mind that this narrative has legs. The Flyers PR machine either completely fooled the Leafs scouts or they really suck

Our pro scouting is pretty awful. We've given away multiple useful players for nothing while overpaying for dime a dozen depth or guys past their prime.

The trade looks pretty one sided at the moment, but it's too early to judge. Give Laughton some time to make his mark in Toronto.

I really liked Grebenkin's potential, but we still don't know if he can develop into an every day player in the NHL. The protected first round pick remains to be seen.

I have buyer's remorse right now but history is yet to be written.

A lot of cope in here...

"It has only been 2 games"

"It has only been 7 games"

"Try him on the wing"

"We can offload him in the summer for a 2nd round pick"

Lmao. Guy sucks and no way is another franchise gonna give up a 2nd round pick for a fringe NHLer that won't be in the league in a season or two. Philly pulled off a brilliant scam selling this guy. Our pro scouting department should be fired.

He had 18 goals and 43 points in 2022-23, 39 points in 2023-24, and was on pace for 37 points over 82 games this season with Philly prior to the trade.

He has zero right now. Do you think it's more likely that he is a 35-40 point player or a 0-point player?

It's been a tough go, but they'll find a line that works for him and he will contribute. He didn't forget how to play hockey.

I'd try him with Tavares and McMann to see if they can get the cycle game going.

I would have still held on to the first round pick. It's still a valuable asset and we don't have any left. Running out of assets here. If we don't win now, what are we gonna do in the future?

Interesting take to think a historical 40-point player over the last 3 seasons would revert to a 0-point player.

We’ve also been using him incorrectly.

Laughton is a cycle player who works well on the boards as a puck retriever, and we’ve been using him with players like Domi who don’t play that game, or now the 4th line with limited minutes.

He's also playing in a new system and moving cities, etc. It’s not an easy transition to make.

You can judge this deal based on 7 games; I’ll judge it after 100 games.

I’d put him with Tavares. Let him be the puck retriever on the J.T. line so he can go to work to find Tavares in the slot, which is where J.T. scores a lot of his goals.

Knies-Matthews-Marner - skill line
Robbie-Domi-Nylander - rush line
McMann-Tavares-Laughton - cycle line

It's not so much the player that's the problem, it the cost of getting him. You pay a 1st rounder you believe you're getting someone who's gonna make an impact or at the very least, be a net positive.

He has term and 50% retained.
He can easily be moved for close to what we paid. Should things not go well.

It’s not so dire.

I wouldn't argue he can be easily moved for his cost. I don't even think he can moved at the price we paid, let alone easily.

The other problem is he's brought nothing so far. We could have just put Grebenkin (who was traded for him) in the lineup and he would have produced the same or better and we'd still have the first round pick and a cheaper cap hit.

I don't think Flyers got another offer for a 1st rounder for Scott .. to me I would have offered a 2nd or 3rd rounder and the winger .. no way in hell we are getting back a 1st for him if we trade him in summer .. folks are sniffing glue even at a reduced cap hit .. we got suckered and our pro scouts SUCK

As a Flyer fan…. I know the pain! Take away MM and there is no hope at all. At least you guys have a team worthy of making a run. The Flyers are years away if they even show some kind of commitment

Highly doubt you're getting the equivalent of a 1st and Grebs for this guy, not after what he's show up to this point. There's still time to right the ship but up to now, it's been a huge miss.
