Canada 10-0.

On a good note.. Latvia has made 2 of their last 3 quarters here which is exceptional. They've been in and out of this tournament the last decade but finally found solid footing and are hitting quarters. Very encouraging. This is also a super young team. They are built for next year if they can stay in main pool. The Germany game is their Superbowl and I'm guessing will be an amazing match!

These games are good for Canada.
Stay diligent, stay smart - try to grow chemistry in those unfamiliar areas on the ice, prepare for the tighter checking games and (hate to be cliche) but have some fun out there.

We do have the youngest team of the tournament with four 16-year-olds. It's going to be very exciting to see how they fare against Canada.

Even though I have very low expectations for this particular game, the future of Latvian hockey is pretty bright.

Potential 2026 1st rounder Murnieks will be centering our top line with a 2025 mid-round prospect Osmanis on the wing who is already playing pro hockey in Sweden. And completing the top line is Mateiko - the only player with an NHL contract.

Other forwards worth a mention are 2026 prospects Berzkalns and Klaucans and a potential 2027 top round pick Naudins. They are all extremely young, though. Younger that McKenna.

Uljanskis is a Ducks pick who is going to QB our PP. Pretty good two-way D.

The rest of the team is decent to mediocre.

I do expect a complete blowout, but our top line should be able to score. If we can keep it to single digits, that's going to be a pretty good result here.

Love seeing Latvia emerge as a decent hockey nation. Unrelated to this team but outside of London, the most impressive player I saw in last years playoffs against Oshawa was Vilmanis. He was electric for North Bay in their series against Oshawa.

Latvia have some interesting prospects this year. Murnieks the biggest one followed by Osmanis, Uljanskis, Mateiko, Berzkalns, Bulans. They can easily beat this shit Finnish team with their shit coach.
Rimpinen can't save their asses every game.
Feldbergs and Ozons shoudl also be decent for Lativa against the European teams at least.

I look forward to see McKenna again! Murnieks, Schaefer, Catton, Molendyk Osmanis are others to follow with excitement.

And as a Flyers fans of course also Bonk and Luchanko.

Probably going to be an ugly one, though I think Latvia will get a few though the young goaltender. I'll guess 9-2, fairly balanced scoring from the four Canadian lines. Get Schaefer back on the first power play unit and Molendyk on the second unit.
