Both teams would want to actually win if there is an opening. Winner faces Switzerland regardless, loser faces Russia or they are out of tournament.
It's 3 HFposters from Russia.Who are the refs for this game (where do they come from) ?![]()
Swiss are damn good here...Both teams would want to actually win if there is an opening. Winner faces Switzerland regardless, loser faces Russia or they are out of tournament.
They have to play all their pool group. If it wasn’t here it would have been earlier and we’d had two other teams in the same scenario. How annoying they are platibg eachother. Both desdrves to advance
Better risk losing in OT than in regulation, right? As I see it I dont think Germany wants to push for a tie and then risk losing in OT and finishing 4th in the group and most likely playing Russia in the quarters. Same thing with Latvia.
The loser of this game plays Russia (if it went to OT). Taking your risks in a sudden death or shootout to decide that seems dumb. There’s no incentive to really coast into extra time here. Plus Latvia has fans in the stands
They probably lose vs Switzerland anyway, and just getting to the quarters is a significant achievement in itself. The loser of this game plays Russia (if it went to OT). Taking your risks in a sudden death or shootout to decide that seems dumb. There’s no incentive to really coast into extra time here. Plus Latvia has fans in the stands
Pffft... You'll do that anyway. If we fail to reach quarterfinals I will shit in Germans' players briefcase.
The last suspicious game I remember was Sweden - Slovakia in 2006 Olympic preliminary tournament. Sweden clearly didn't want to win their group and face Canada or Czech Republic, so they lost 0:3, beat Switzerland in the quarters and went on to win the gold.
Now, what if Russia looks at all this and thinks: "Canada might be No 4, but not No 3. We'd rather face Latvia or Germany, not Canada"? Then they lose to Belarus in regulation, and, low and behold, the winner of Latvia - Germany game faces Russia, not Switzerland.
yes sweden was scared of czech, the same czech we crushed in semifinals.
Any sport that has likely 0-0 results is a bad sport that isn't worth your time. Luckily this is hockey and not the sport you are suggesting it is...Both teams should avoid taking risks. They must realize that a tie will cause both to advance, so even playing for a win could be too risky. That's why I wouldn't be shocked of a very lame and uneventful 0-0, knocking Canada out.
swedes avoided Canada and Russia (they had lost to Russia 0-5 in their group game) thanks to that loss vs SVK
