Latendresse's Days With Sens Officially Over?

I think when White on the Habs repeatedly cross checked him and he just took it was the final nail for Paulrus as he showed no grit and seemed afraid of the rough stuff for a big man.
I still think that he can play in this league but needs to use his size more, not playing much the last couple of years certainly has not helped though.
Wonder who else received their walking papers.

he still has good hands and good iq cause he knows where to be on the ice.

if he gets faster he will be good

Whoever says he was "crap" obviously didn't watch much hockey this year. He was decent and with more games probably would have gained momentum. But alas the experiment is over and I wish him the best going forward. Hopefully he puts in the effort this summer and trains hard 'til he finds a new home.

Watched every game and on the majority of nights he was a non factor. Injuries played their part but he still didn't perform better than a rookie.

He sucked.

He failed to meet expectations. 1.5 mil was enough to give him a chance, and unfortunately he didn't utilize that chance to the best of his ability.

I thought he was dragging his behind since day one, even though I thought he provided some spark in the playoffs. He just doesn't skate like a top 6 winger should.

He looked decent on occasion but his skating will always be a concern. We need to get faster and if Mark Stone is on the team next year (I hope not) we couldn't possibly carry Lats as well.

Nice to see Lats praising the organization and leaving with class. That's probably not such an easy thing to do after being sat in the press box most of the playoffs.

I always wanted it to work out here for Lats. Seems like a great guy and I wish him nothing but the best. I hope he can get his career on track.

Will never forget the beauty sauce to Turris and the nice dangle goal vs the Bruins.

Was a tough year for him. Hope he finds success somewhere else.

he'll have to get into better shape. i didn't see enough commitment from him to the game of hockey. from what i could see from here.

I'm kind of surprised to see all the negative comments. Oh wait...I just remembered what board I'm on.

I think Lats played alright. Consider that he had two years off hockey, and got injured again, (or misdiagnosed) while here.

He showed he can still play and he can still chip in. I hope he gets another chance with somebody because to me he looked like a guy that came to play, accepted any role assigned and seemed like a good teammate / community guy.

Maybe he is slow and a bit gunshy.

At worst I think he'll land in Europe somewhere and earn a pretty nice living. At super worst, maybe Leclaire has an opening at his hockey school.

Im sure if he dedicates the summer to training he will get a contract for next year... the guy is like 26 years old... He needs to get in better shape to keep up but he is an NHL player...

It was a low risk, potentially high reward deal and we werent rewarded... not a big deal...move on...

You know, I could see this guy sign on with the Pens in the offseason. A young guy with talent that could use some work and motivation, he could be a cost effective winger for Crosby or Malkin. Considering their limited cap space it could be a good fit.

I'm in the minority here, but I would give him another shot. He's exactly what we are missing. A big body around the net with hands. We have guys like Neil and Greening who are big, but lack finishing.

It was an experiment and it failed, time to move on. That being said look to Murray to find another project or two for next season as that seems to be his MO. Sure there will be plenty of guys that don't work out (Filatov, Latendresse, etc.), but when we hit the jackpot we will all be smiling at Murray's prowess. I sure hope Maidens can be a good NHLer, because he is definitely one of the experiments we have in our system.

Most of the regular posters on this board should be eating crow right now.

his injury, spezza's injury, and other factors conspired to doom him to failure in ottawa.

No doubt if everyone was healthy he would of helped a lot more than he did. Even if in the games he did play he showed more he would have probably been re-signed.

I thought it was a good signing until after his first few games. Then heard he was misdiagnosed and was optomistic. Then thought again what I thought before.

I thought he was the darkhorse signing in all of UFA last year, advocated for getting him more ice all year, but I think its good hes gone.

Dont get me wrong, if we signed him for two years I would still be supporting him, but its best for both sides hes gone. He didnt fit the system Mac has implemented here. I think hes going to get another contract from someone and turn it around to be a solid second liner, but that door is closed here.

I dont think he got a fair shake, but he has nobody to blame but himself for that.

A pro athlete out of shape would never touch the court / field / whatever if I was the coach of the team until they turned it around. It not only hurts your performance, but its a slap in the face to your teammates who bust their ass, go home to specialized diets, and treat their body like the multi-million dollar machine that it is. He apparently doesnt.

Obviously Lats was hurt a lot, which limited his cardio / exercise, but he got too out of shape to use that as an excuse imo. You can lose fat by sitting on your couch and flipping channels.

If only he had the drive I guarantee Murray would be working on a contract right now.

He never seemed to totally settle into a rhythm after several setbacks but there was a point midseason where we were starved for offense and it was awesome seeing a guy like him with good hockey sense out there. It didn't work out obviously but I hope he gets a contract somewhere else, he seems like a good guy and can probably continue to improve after all his injury troubles.
