That is the crafty play that G can still make. He may not be a true top 6, but he brings a lot of positive play.
If we can get him for a discount rate, I still want him on this team as a veteran presence with all his other skills.
I think having a hard worker with speed and size on LW with 18 and 28 would open up a lot of space for G to make his smart plays and mitigate his loss of a step. Gaudette has been nice but he’s so slow that it puts a lot of pressure on Stutzle’s ability to maintain pace.
Worst case, Giroux will still look great next to Pinto one line down next year.
I’d really like to see Ostapchuk get a occcasional look with 18 and 28.
