I'm looking forward to watching this at home after a work holiday party instead of wondering if Boston Pizza will show the game.

This is a game and an opponent designed for the Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson line. Hopefully they can pick up a goal or two off the rush and the team can start off the road trip with a win against what is probably the weakest opponent on the trip.

He was going to lose either Daccord or Gus to Seattle and had no way out of that. The Gus for Talbot trade was not good though but Gus would never have emerged under a Dorion led franchise.
Ehh I don’t know if I agree with that. He did decent in Belleville in a shitty situation and did put up .933 in 9 games for the Sens in 2021 (small sample size). The potential was always there.

Nuh uh. Dorion could have totally asked Seattle to not take Daccord or Gus.

He did have avenues to keep both, but none of them were that good at the time. He could have left Colin White and Logan Brown unprotected. At the time, both were likely still seen as more valuable than Daccord. They might not have been seen as more valuable than Gustavsson.

Daccord had some fanfare as prospect, but he wasn't a blue chip goalie prospect. He even passed through waivers two years ago. Granted, it was during training camp when it is easier to sneak players through, and his 1-way contract with term likely dissuaded some teams from taking him.

The structure of the Sens' play was absolutely phenomenal. Minus the result lmaooo.

You could only protect one goalie.

I never suggested that they could protect two.

I suggested that they could have left what at the time may have been more tempting pieces unprotected to lower the likelihood of Daccord being selected.
Who were you protecting instead of the ones they did protect.
one hope was they took Dadonov.

It’s not a “game night’ it’s an ‘Ice Hockey Match’
I hate it when they call it "Ice Hockey".

I go to pub quiz night at my local pub. I'm generally pretty good but have no chance when it come to the sports categories that are dominated by football and cricket. I just basically answer every question "David Beckham".

After several years and I finally got a "Hockey" question. "How wide is a Hockey goal net across?"

I got it wrong because they were talking about f***ing field hockey. I spend the rest of the night asking if the boys wear skirts when they play as well.
