So Florida has improved their team, Tampa improved their team today....quite honestly we better make a trade that improves our team or Tre has alot to answer for. If they're willing to make moves to upgrade their teams, so should we. Our team as currently constituted, will not survive an injury to a key player (i.e. Tanev, McCabe, Nylander).

Florida didn’t make a single trade deadline acquisition last year and won the cup. It feels like the leafs did a majority of their acquisitions this summer. With the adds on defense

It’s not very often that these deadline deals make that big of a difference. Plug a couple of small holes and rely on the guys that got you there.

It’s weird that people want all these changes with 20 games left.

We saw what happened the last time when Dubas blew a load his last year. We have nothing to show for it. So I agree with you. Lay low, fill that 3C hole and RHD hole. If Brandon Tanev is available for cheap, bring him in and send Reaves packing.

Fans can see that the 3 amigos are not capable of carrying our lousy bottom 6. If you want to seriously compete for the SC, you need to do some patch work.

To be honest, they did that last year. There's proof of concept that plugging small holes doesn't move the needle. Dewars, Edmundsons of the world don't make enough of a difference.

You shouldn’t have to make a huge trade at the deadline, those moves should be done in the summer. The deadline should be moves to improve depth in case of injury, or upgrades like a 3C.

Are you comparing Florida's preparedness for the playoffs last year vs ours this season? Everybody thought Florida was one of the favourites last season, why would they have to make a move? Many predicted they'd win the cup based on the team they had. How many people last year predicted the Leafs would win the Cup? How about this year? I posit that Florida didn't have to make a move to have a successful playoff, but we surely have to.

So we're in agreement that a trade should be made?

The year before they didn’t make a big deadline move either. Their big move was Tkachuk in the off season.

Pittsburgh in their latest runs didn’t make a big trade at the deadline.

Neither did Washington. A lot of teams in the modern cap era made tinkering moves

I always find it odd that fans in general seem to think their team can acquire good assets for the lower end players they want to get rid of (crappy contracts as well).

I get the whole "one man's trash is another man's treasure" saying, but sometimes trash is just trash...

I would say Schenn plus Parayko takes us to all in and would be the difference makers but I don't see Tre being able to pull it off, would need serious retention and players going other way

I've changed my tune on Robertson. I think the leafs will keep him.

Depends on how our cap shapes up. Compared to his cap, I doubt we’d find someone who does as much. Unless he’s part of a bigger upgrade deal, I can see him staying potentially even into next year. He also recently rescinded his trade request.

The difference makers are supposed to be Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Tavares. That's the irony.

If you were a team that can't score and you picked up one of them fans would say "alright, we got a stud". That is, until the playoffs begin...

They need to shed big salaries this offseason. If they don't, they will never sniff a Cup

Our defense was outstanding last year after the adds, the problem was our three most important players missed half the series.
