I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryan Miller signn with Vegas. LA to Vegas is a short flight for his wife.

At this point I think it's more likely the Avs protect Pickard over Varlamov. He's our goalie of the future and to be quite honest has played better then Varly for a while now.

Varly could make for a solid #1G for LV though.

Something like:

Howard
Hutchinson/Bernier
Subban/Brossoit/Pickard (if Avs protect Varmalov and gp 7-3 with Beuch buyout...)

Is what I think most likely...

partially as those teams will not have great options in regards to skaters. (for example with CBJ (Korpisalo/Forsberg) a guy like Karlsson could be available, Buffalo (Ullmark) McCabe, Carolina (Altshuller) Stempniak, Minny (Kuemper) Scandella/Brodin, Ottawa (Driedger) Methot, Washington (Grubauer) Orlov, Philly (Stolarz) Read, Weise or Cousins... and the forward pool will be the weakest they can pick from for sure... I expect they take only 14 fwds, the bare minimum.)

I think Bishop and Fleury are moved and protected, which ofc could lead to some 'fall-out' elsewhere.

Keep your hands off Korpisalo and Forsberg, McPhee!

Honestly love Korpisalo but them taking him is best for us IMO. We have good goalie depth prospect wise and if we can keep JMFJ Atkinson, Anderson, Karlson, and Calvert I'm OK with that. I know those names aren't superstars but they are incredibly important to the team. Losing JMFJ doesn't kill us... really none of them do... but having 5 guys who are able to play top pair minutes (even though JJ and Savard are better on the 2nd pair they have played more then capable minutes on top line when injuries occurred in the past). The forwards are all tough blue collar all motor guys and Cam has a scoring touch so it hurts more then others and if Anderson keeps up play there's a good chance they keep him or Karlson over Cam with 1 year. So Korpisalo is actually imo best case scenario.

I think if Vegas have the option to get say Karlsson they take him over Korpisalo... as they could get a guy like Subban, Brossoit or Pickard as a young goalie from teams who really are not going to have great skater options.

The potential forward options available are going to be poor relative to D and G... and I think Vegas only picks 14 forwards due to that... and Columbus are one of the ~15 teams who are going to actually have to expose a decent forward capable of playing in the top 9.

Like the Flyers have Stolarz... but not too worried about losing him because there are not going to be many forward options better than someone like Read.

I agree with you that it's not likely a goalie goes. I honestly believe JJ has a good chance to be picked because he can be a veteran top pair D (better 2nd pair but played a lot of 1st pair minutes in his career) and Atkinson or Karlson will have a better chance being picked depending on how they decide to protect. I was never worried about losing wild bill until this year.

I really doubt Varly gets protected over Pickard. Hard to say if he would even get picked by Vegas.

As it stands today, Minnesota would need to expose Dubnyk. Because while you get to protect one goalie, you also HAVE to expose one that meets certain requirements, and currently they don't have another goalie under contract for next year that would meet those requirements.

I would assume come Jan 1st, either Stalock or Kuemper will be resigned to meet those requirements and be exposed to Vegas, taking Dubnyk off the list.

Or do you leave Dubnyk exposed, dangling him as bait, and hope whomever is exposed out of Spurgeon/Dumba/Scandella/Brodin goes unselected?

Islanders could re-sign Greiss and then expose Halak. McPhee has some history with him and may like him. He'd have one year left on his deal and could re-sign at a decent price. Still has a few years left in him that could be a nice bridge to a young goalie.

Islanders could then go with a Greiss/JFB combo with Sorokin coming up in the wings.

You are so funny. Isles sent emails around the league that Halak is available and nobody took him till now. So why should Vegas waste a draft spot on him, makes no sense.

McPhee shouldn't help Snow.

Why should Varlamov be solid for Vegas if he's not good enough for COL.

Some people dream Vegas would waste a draft pick and solve their problems. Varlamov at 5.9M :)

i think goaltending will not be an issue for LV. pretty evident that their are alot of good goalies that will be forced to be exposed. It'll be interesting who they take.

I could see a team like detroit possibly giving LV incentive to draft howard instead of say varlamov.

Am on my phone. How much do you wanna bet hf partners will have these posts monthly and then weekly leading up to the draft.

A lot of teams will trade players of value to get something instead of losing them for nothing.and teams will trade picks to get vegas to lay off a player
