If Helle & Connor can convince him to waive I'd imagine anything would be on the table in a package from the Jets. Gets him out of conference for the Wings which would be a bonus.

Lambert/Yager/Chibrikov + 2025 First + 2026 First (top 5 protected) for Larkin?

Would completely transform the Jets 2nd line for the last few seasons of the Helle window.

Connor - Scheifele - Vilardi
Perfetti - Larkin - Ehlers
Nino - Lowry - Appleton
Iafallo - Namestnikov - Chibrikov

I really hope that if this happens it's not Lambert, but that's just my personal opinion.

I don't see how Detroit trades him and gets better immediately and in the near future?

Are they trading for an upgrade on defense, goaltending or for a younger top 6 center?

If they’re considering this, it’s because he doesn’t align with their realistic window. Trading him would be about re-aligning their window. The problem is, Detroit hasn’t had much luck when it comes to being in a position to drafting centers. So one could understand their reluctance.

And how is Detroit getting better in the near future with the incoming 8th pick? Im not saying Wings are considering trading Larkin, im saying Larkin is considering saying "trade me".

They are not considering this, he should though.

I’d need Yager back and one of the others + the 25 1st. I’d probably want to keep the 26 1st over Lambert anyways if I were the Jets and getting Larkin

Larkin isnt being traded. He is local boy, playing for his childhood favourite team. He has an NTC. He is the teams captain. He just signed a long term extension. He is the teams top center and makes the team better. While this year is a setback, Detroit is still poised for a bight future.

There are many reasons it simply will not happen.

Pettersson to Buffalo for Byram+ and then a package of younger pieces/picks to Detroit for Larkin? Maybe there are some pieces on Buffalo that would interest Detroit?

That said, does Larkin waive his NMC to go to Canada? Probably not.

I will be very surprised if Larkin ever demands a trade. In 3-4 years team should compete for Cup. Meanwhile small tanking by trading away Tarasenko, Kane, Chiarot, Veleno and some others will make team better in the future

I don't think Yzerman has enough goodwill anymore to start all over, this isn't going to happen until after they decide to shitcan him. I still don't think we're there yet, there's some talented kids in the system and he should be given a chance to see what they can do before Yzerman is gone. He's going to be given ample opportunity to make it work because of who he is (for better or worse). Others will obviously disagree with me, but that's just my opinion.
