Okay I checked these out. Different sites (NHL, Wiki, TSN, HockeyDB) have different data so if we're using TSN as you suggested for the heights then most of the above are not 5'9" or shorter. Neither are Briere or Weaver, both list at 5'10" on tsn -- a site sponsored by elevator shoes?

So as we knew the Habs are small. I'm no size freak (¬‿¬) but I know that in a physical game, size matters. It's physics.
Back to the OP I fear if we get manhandled as we have in the past it would be good if someone could lay down the law. Officials tend not to do that so much in the playoffs. Maybe Murray will punch Lucic and make him cry

Southern Habs thinks Thornton was Boston's MVP for the Cup finals the year they won so...I wouldn't waste much time on this matter with him. It's a lost case.

Hyperbole on parade.The reality is that the BlackHawks dressed Bollig against the Bruins to show them that the goonish play would not work.
And, Thornton being reinserted into the playoffs after sitting for the first two games reignited the Bruins and gave them momentum.

Ah, we miss the good old days of seeing Hamrlik, Spacek and Pyatt get beaten to a pulp by the 4th liners from Boston.

And.....if my memory serves me, the referees did not give us a PP after that beat down and none of the Bruins were suspended for instigating at the end of the game.

We all know what you believe. That there's this trickled down effect to having an enforcer. That's a belief of yours that you will never be able to prove. You're the one making this claim, but have no factual data to prove it. So instead, you rely on hearsay and strawman.
On the flip side though, we know that having an enforcer factually does not prevent injuries. It doesn't prevent clean or even dirty hits. We know that it does not make a player score more. We know that it changes nothing to the end result of a game 99% of the time.
All it does is give this false sense of comfort for about half a second.
MaxPac can feel amazing walking down the hallway and onto the ice with Parros in front of him, but when the game starts and he needs to skate by Chara you can bet your ass that this ''comfort'' level is gone.
I'm not even against having enforcers. The reason why is that if Thornton or Scott or Fraser or whoever is looking for a fight, then I want us to have a partner for them. Other than that, an enforcer is completely useless. No need to pretend otherwise.

There's no need for strawman or hyperbole. You believe the presence of an enforcer is crucial. You have no actual FACTS and by that I mean raw data, that prove you right. You rather not pay attention to that, which is fine. It's your own belief. There's no actual proof that there's a God and yet, look at how many people in this world (even some of the most educated and intelligent ones) believe that there is one.
So it's cool. It's a belief. But don't try to argue without fact that your belief is reality.

The guy got released disgracefully cause he didn't do his job which makes his opinion on anything Habs related irrelevant.

That beat-down pissed me off like no other. I was furious and embarrassed just like you were, just like I'd assume the players on our team were.
But searching for an enforcer isn't a priority, it should be the last god damn thing on Bergevin's mind. This team needs to replace Gionta. They need to keep Vanek (or find a replacement). They need to extend Subban. They need to hire a new coach. Etc.
Picking up a fighter is no biggie at all - and I don't have an opinion about it one way or the other. Sure it's nice to have a fighter but it's pretty much a waste of a roster spot. Then again we're starting to play a harder-edged game and will need a tough guy here an there to "answer the bell" when things get out of hand, which for a few games a season they invariably will.

Couldn't care less about getting an enforcer. However I would like us to get bigger and grittier throughout the lineup. If we could replace the deadwood with those kinds of players in addition to the core we already have I think we could be a very, very good team.
Priority is to keep what we've got ie. sign Subban and Vanek. Once that's done (if we can do it) then work on getting bigger players who can actually PLAY hockey. Forget the Murrays and Parros type guys.... get guys who can carry the puck somewhat and can't be pushed around.
