Quinn Hughes signed a deal similar AAV a few years ago.

Hutson would want that number higher based off of cap %.

What do Hughes or Makar make? With the rising Cap, Hutson might as well seek those numbers on any long-term deal.

If you are going to sign him "at any cost" there's no good reason to not sign him short term. See if he can do it again and then sign him long term. Habs will have to pay a premium for any UFA years, but that means you keep him longer without the uncertainty.

The Leafs are losing leaves already and their super amazing squad won less playoff series than the Habs this decade when they were supposed to own the league throughout the 2020's.

I should cut you some slack, I guess I'd be salty too if the Leafs had won 3x as many rounds as us in their rebuild as we had in our competitive window only to come out of it with a tiny 21 year old rookie who was a better defenseman than anyone we had on our roster.
