Value of: Lane Hutson's off-season contract

The "internal cap" is always so funny to me. Why should I take a shitty deal just because my teammate did a couple of years ago???

Chychrun just got $9Mx8. That would be the floor of my ask on a long-term deal.

Hutson could be offer sheet candidate summer '26
I think it would be a bit of a coup if Hughes could get him locked up this summer. I think Hutson likely waits to see how the dust settles on the new cap reality before inking a deal.

Waiting would take the guess work out and I think make it more likely that he signs a max term deal.

He’s an amazing offensive talent but has a lot of work to do on the defensive side of the puck and learning when to make the safe play or they need to pair him with an elite shutdown D that covers his mistakes. If you subtract his bad from his good you have a $7.5MM player

As a Hab fan I want him locked down to an 8 year deal ASAP but if I were him id sign no more than 3 years and once the cap has gone up sign a monster 8 year deal.

3x8-9 that leaves him around 24 years old then he signs a huge deal and when that's done he would be 32ish and he can sign another 8 year monster.

A winger playing D is going to be a top 5 player at his position?

The Bouchard hype died down, I imagine this hype will eventually die down too.
Well it’s not wrong, and Bouchard is even better defensively, ( never thought I’d say that).
Wow a Leafs fan and a Sens fan talking nonsense, I can’t believe it

lol we spent all year hearing habs fans talk about how amazing Hutson is and now that he needs a new contract they start pointing out all his flaws

All right show why he’s good defensively.
For starters this is the last 10 games (which is a losing stretch for the Habs). On ice 5v5 10-4 and BY FAR the lowest xGA/60 on the team.

His xGA/60 has steadily improve this year. Relative to his teammates he’s always on the good side no matter how far you go back, but recently he’s miles above.

There’s no shame in admitting you were wrong. I did the same with Q. Hughes a few years ago, cut your losses bro, you’re just wrong.
