They are still so young and Nemec could still absolutely become better than Hutson. It’s not impossible. This thread though at this time is clearly going to be a landslide…..and right now it should be.

Hutson playing for the Devils, I wouldn't be too sure about that. Nemec had a ten game start paired with fellow RHD Seamus Casey. Both had their moments but were clearly outplayed by the other four guys. And Pesce and Luke were a lock to play when ready. Would Hutson have stuck after ten games? What would his role of even been those first ten games?

Now if Hutson joins the Devils tomorrow, yes, we can very confidently say he would remain in the NHL! But even then, who do the Devils get rid of?
Hutson had a ROUGH time of it as well pre Luke-Pesce getting healthy. This level of play would not have been enough to stick once Luke got back imo.

His final 4 game showing would have been a pretty disasterous stretch as well

I understand what you're saying, but if Hutson was on the Devils, he would be playing in the NHL and contributing now.
This isn't the case, Hutson doesn't beat out Dillon, Siegenthaler or Luke Hughes for a spot, he may have gotten a look while Luke was hurt but he likely would have been sent to the AHL once Luke was back.
He'd also not likely to be getting any PP time at all even if he somehow stuck around, he's not taking minutes from Hamilton or Hughes right now.
He's also playing huge minutes in Montreal and NJ wouldn't do that, they're keeping all 6 between 18-20 minutes per game.

He's a great player but different teams wouldn't be using exactly the same as Montreal is.

Hopefully you're talking about either Jack or Quinn, because Luke is overrated AF and Lane blow him out of the water

Heck, Hutson isn't even that far of Quinn
I was talking about Quinn and yes Hutson is far away from Quinn.

Luke would be more interesting as there is some projection and playing time questions there but my bet is that most neutral observers would want Luke long term for hockey reasons.

He wouldn't be if he was on NJ.

He likely doesn't get the chance to put up those numbers because the Devils don't NEED him to be in the NHL right now.

This isn't a shot at Hutson, nor am I saying he's worse than any of the LHD the Devils have. He simply wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to do it on NJ this season.

Well, no
Again, very bad take from you

Most neutral observers would take Hutson because of hockey reasons (more talent, and better game breaking abilities.)

I think most people would just look at points and current situation and not look forward.Luke has size and great skating and a very good skillset.

But you know what let's look back in 5 years and see where these 2 guys end up as I don't think that it's a slam dunk for Hutson here.

He likely would have been sent down when Luke-Pesce came back yes.

He got off to a slow start, and in NJD would not have been given the leeway to work through it.

And unfortunately, while he's better than Dillon, he doesn't PK, and NJD has 2 PP QBs already.

Just like Casey and just like Nemec

Did you actually read what I wrote?

The Devils had Dillon, Siegenthaler and Luke Hughes written into their lineup before the season even started. That leaves no room for another LHD like Hutson. Again this isn't a slight against him at all, it is a fact.

I'll attempt to make this easier, you know how the Sharks started the season with Blackwood and Vanecek in net? This wasn't because they thought that they were better than Askarov. It's because the other 2 were established in the NHL. So what did they do with him? They sent him to the AHL.

Other teams would use players differently than the Canadiens do. Lane Hutson is on the perfect team for him to do what he's doing, that doesn't mean he does it on every team.
