Player Discussion Lane Hutson: Part 3 - Calder Edition

Loved watching him put pucks to the net. They were finding their way through, just no rebounds and traffic on them. He needs to do this in order to keep his incredible play making a game changer. He has the intelligence to work on it.

That was bad at the end, but Demidov put him in a bad spot tbh.

Capitals were ready to pressure the two of them up high and it was nonsensical to have already pulled the goalie there. I put the blame more on Marty for that and a learning experience for Demidov and Hutson on how to handle the high pressure off the draw in the playoffs.

Sometimes the other team makes a good play too.

It was a faceoff in Caps end and the Habs won it...so MSL won his bet. I ain't mad at him for that.

His shot is starting to look better too.

5 points in 4 playoff games... but will he be able to do in in the NHL!?
National Hockey League Talk closed the Lane Hutson's thread. As soon as he was able to do it in the NHL!

Lol...

I am, I said it to my family as they were lining up for the face-off. There's 3 minutes left, we are only down one, there's no reason to go all in on winning this draw, especially since we were getting killed in the face-off department all night.

The game was over with 2 and a half minutes left on the clock. Was a gamble you make down 2, not 1.

But he won his gamble though, they won the faceoff...the execution is what failed them.

And if he didn't pull the goalie with 3 minutes left, that execution fail doesn't end the game and they have ample time to get back in, set up and pull the goalie in control of the puck.

You don't need to have a single execution failure end your game with that much time left on the clock.

His seeing-eye shots could've easily brought 1-2 goals from rebounds, deflections or just passing through. A bit unlucky on those in the last game. They're bound to create more goals at some point.

Most assists in first career playoff series (Rookie defenseman, NHL history)

3) Lane Hutson (5 Assists)

It was too early. We had time... there was no need to rush on that move and it cost us.
Might have been too late if they waited too.

He saw an opportunity, gambled, his gamble paid off because they had possession by winning the faceoff.

The coach unfortunately, can't control the execution. If Hutson gets the puck in deep, we're not having this discussion.

Had they lost the faceoff, i'd get consternation.
