I'd love to see him around the same contract money as Suzuki but for 5 years, so he can get a hefty raise when the cap will be around 120 million per season. I wonder if 5x$7,875,000 + 8x$13,500,000 can be a possibility. 147,375,000 for a 13-year career seems good to me. Something around an $11,336,538 cap hit/year along all those seasons. Which would lead to a 35-year-old Hutson. Is it too much, not enough, I do not know, but I hope he signs a team-friendly deal.

Next season cap is 95.5m, 104m in 2027. I'm hoping we manage to keep it under 10m. Sub 8 is fantasy land.

That's my feeling too. From all accounts, hockey is all that matters to him.

Also, Nick and Cole contracts set the bar for the other guys. Laner is one of the boys and would likely join the ranks. A little more considering his special talent and the direction of the cap is going in, but I expect a number we'll all be very happy with.

If Laine doesn't improve his overall game by the end of next year, he would only get so much of an offer on the open market, probably less than 5M AAV.

Celebrini and Michkov are both amazing but Calder should go to Hutson because without Hutson the habs are probably bottom 5 in the league while Celebrini and Michkov are bottom 5 in the league.

There is not only that has a factor but if Habs make playoffs and Hutson has the same amount of points. He should easily win this or it's legit rigged.

Hutson's next contract respecting the Suzuki cap is absolutely not happening on an 8 year deal.

But would it be worth it for the Habs to offer 6x7.9?

Hutson would hit UFA two years sooner but the Habs would have him at a lower cap hit for several years of contention.

I doubt it. Gambling sites have Lane as favorite at a higher rate than Macklin was at his height in the season. If Lane breaks the assist record, he'll easily walk away with the trophy.

It would literally be a bigger injustice than what caused the Richard riots. None of the other rookies are even close to what Lane is accomplishing.

Imo he can get to 90 like Hughes if he practices to get a better shot.
