KH said in an interview they didn't draft Cole because they were concerned exactly for that reason: having too many smaller player; also, dad Hutson, I believe was not too keen on having both sons playing for the same team (can't find the quote so maybe I.m just making shit up)I really hope we keep taking chances on players like this, regardless of size or positional need, especially in the second round or later - but even in the first round. Now, we took Hutson based on positional need for a pp QB at the time. But if the next potential PP QB or number one goalie, or top 4 LD is available and we already have that in the system, take them anyway! We can't pass on this type of talent.
Probably should have taken Cole Hutson as well. (I say probably because I'm not an expert on projecting young players, not because Cole plays the same position as Lane).

It took you 73 nhl games to figure this out?Today he showed he's gonna be a superstar.
Even if he doesn't hold these scoring positions, he's been so impressive this season. I knew he would be good, and I believed he would impact the way the team played the game, but I did not expect this as a rookie.View attachment 1002926
A BEAUTY !.
For those who want a translation of défenseurs or recrue, get a mirror, and look at yourself. Those eyes !![]()
He is already very strong.I also have no doubt he'll improve his strength the same way Hughes did.
I remember posters debating on Boqvist vs Hughes due to Boqvist's superior shot, which is pretty funny in hindsight. Hughes has a rocket now. I think it'll be the same for Hutson. Just look at how he's imporved his skating, speed and strength.

What you are referencing is Hutson Sr's interview on McCagg's podcast. I don't have the time stamp, but I believe it's this interview.

I'm speechless guys. This guy is unreal man. He is very good at defensive zone aswell even if he put already 59 points in 73 games. Lol!
His work ethic is incredible aswell.
Imagine him in 2 years, he is going to be much more explosive and better all around.
We are lucky to drafted that type of talent, impact with only #62 pick!!
Guys think about that.
Our 2 best offensive defenseman in this century at their prime:
P.k Subban' best sesson at his prime with us: 60 points
Andrei Markov's best season at his prime with us: 64 points
+++++
Now...:
Hutson with 9 games to go as a 20-21 year old rookie : 59 points !!!!!!

He played with Markov on the pp...Well subban to play with dd and pacioretty, not fair for him
..and I am not saying the opposite.. i just expose that as a rookie he has almost a better season that those 2 at their prime. If you have watched all 3, you will say that Hutson is better offensive talent than both. It's obvious haha!!
That's how Lane Hutson is good, really really good !!
